TPMS Questions

So I am buying a new set of wheels and trading my TRD sport set. I would like to know if it is possible to take the tire pressure management sensors out of the wheels and tires they are in now and put them in my new set.

Old set - Stock 17" TRD Sport wheels

New set - 18" BBS RWs

Should have just pm'ed me bud I've been through this before with those wheels. BBS rw's were made in two batches. There is one that has a stamp of "016" on it. Those are the first editions, and they don't accept tpms sensors. The second edition will have "018" stamped on them, and they are compatible with the tpms.

Mine are the 016 version, so I have my tpms sensors strapped to the inside of the wheel using tpms straps.

Where will it be stamped?

 

It will be stamped on the lip, between two of the spokes. Viewable when looking at the front of the rim.

I also need to talk to you about lug nuts. The rim seat on these are thick enough that there wasn't enough thread from the stud sticking through for me to feel safe using the stock lugs. It only took 4 turns for them to be tight, and that just wasn't enough for me.

I bought extended thread (E/T) lug nuts from wheelers offroad. They are conical seat but have a shank on the end so there is a lot more thread contact. Here's the link to them (halfway down the page). Hope this helps!

Yeah you'll be fine I drove for 2 weeks with the stock lugs before I found that solution.

What size tires are on them?

 

Old, ready to be replaced 265/60/18. I think I'll replace with Revo 2 265/60/18 tires.

 

You can fit 265/65/18's. I ran those and had no rubbing before my lift. Hey are the sam width and diamter as the ever-popular 265/75/16's.

I don't think I'm going to be lifting in the future. The only off-roading or bad weather I drive in is sand, snow and farm fields and the 265/60s can be deflated enough to keep me going okay.

 

Sounds good, just saying you can fit the 32's (265/65/18's) without a lift. Either way it will look great with the new rims.
