Is the latest TSB for the ECU new new???? I took my Taco in to have the tires rotated about late March and they said I already had the latest TSB for that? Love the truck, just wish it didn’t sputter at about 1000-1500 RPMS. Also, gas mileage has been pretty solid for me, 19-20 MPG most weeks.

Are you for real right now?
I guess you havent driven a tundra, 6.2 chevy, 6.0 chevy, a 454 chevy, or even the old fords?
It might make great horsepower up top, but torque is a joke in it.

    I test drove a 2014 Silverado 6.2L while I owned a 2012 F150 5.0! I ended up buying a 2013 F150 6.2 at that time. Both the F150 V8’s had 3.73 gears. My 2012 and 2013 F150’s were both tuned with an intake and cat-back exhaust.

My brother-in-law owned a 2008 Tundra 5.7 during this period of time.

    I currently own a 2011 Chevy with a 6.0L.

I currently own a vortech supercharged foxbody 5.0.

    For real, right now.

    Work in progress...
I have driven the Blue Taco up in the mountains and out on the trails and down the long long interstates. It is a little bit of work keeping it up to speed to be honest. I jump in my wife's x3 and with out feeling a shift or any hesitation the thing just goes the speed I want. That being said, I love this truck. It goes plenty fast for the American roads that we drive on and it also takes us on some great off road adventures. It is not a sports car buy any means so comparing it to a 5.0 Mustang is like comparing a Camaro to a Tacoma off the pavement.

OP, if you didnt love the truck when you test drove it, DONT BUY IT.

I came from a 662hp Shelby and find my 17’ Tacoma’s power to be more than adequate. Transmission is perfectly fine. The throttle mapping is a little soft but then again, so was the throttle mapping on my 426hp Camaro SS. ECT makes the throttle mapping more aggressive.

Tacoma is not a performance vehicle. Instead it is engineered around capability, economy, durability/dependability and all around fun. If you dont understand that concept, then Id say you will be better off in a different truck.

Out of curiosity I looked up a 6.2 Silverado and a F150 5.0. The Silverado does 0-60 in 5.7 and the 1/4 in 14.3, the F150 in 5.9 and 14.4 so they are damn near identical.

Really like the taco and this epic community but had a chance to test drive the f150 in a dark moment while taco was stuck at dealer with an electrical issue. The loaner Prius had more juice than my taco, which was heartbreaking.

The f150 3.5 v6 EB is a blast to drive and, basically, just a better truck. So much more power and interior room (and really not any bigger than my DCLB). It’s a little on the ugly side (screw cab short bed looks like a giant tadpole, honestly). Also the 2018 tacos have a bunch of TSS safety crap that is geared for basically elderly or new drivers (sorry). It’s a bummer to admit, but if I had a do-over I’d go ford.

But hell, maybe after the twin turbos it’ll spank an f150. What do you think @OVTune?

Dude, if I wanted fast I would buy a fast car in addition to my truck.
Also, if something has more interior room then it has to have a bigger exterior. Simple geometry lol.
You enjoy that vehicle and quit comparing apples to oranges.

I know I babied it and got very lucky that day. Still, it was through some moderate hills and flats with no wind so I'll take it. I average 20-21mpg most of the time
