I took mine back in and called corporate to make sure the issue is well documented for one thing.

My truck was in the shop like 3 weeks after I bought it for 35 days! One just simple thing that was that I lost out on most of my XM free trial, I had to be without my truck I was excited to have for over a month, and now I am still dealing with the same issue.

I will not just keep quite and not alert corporate for something that should have never even came up from the factory. I spent 32.5k to enjoy my truck. Not deal with service dipshits on an issue that should have been fixed last July.

Another thing, it just burns me up that like I said multiple times... I wasn’t even part of the recall yet my symptoms were much worse than most people who were under the recall.

I think it’s a very shady deal and Toyota didn’t want to list even more trucks under a recall. It’s bullshit.

I still love my truck, but I’m starting to despise Toyota.

How do I know for sure that long-term damage wasn’t inflicted with the extreme fluid loss initially? I have to take my dealerships word and I don’t even trust these idiots.

    How does that work?

I would not trust a dealer either...

I can’t say I’ve had any residual issues due to the fluid loss but time will tell. Obviously they didn’t fix it right the first time. I will just keep monitoring it when I get it back and take it from there.

I don’t regret contacting corporate (even though it made my visit awkward) because they need to know that not only did it screw up right after purchase, but it wasn’t fixed properly by my dealer.

Absolutely.... they might have not even repaired it at all...

Keep in mind that your dealer is not Toyota. They are a separate buisness.

Dont “hate” Toyota because of the poor service a dealer gives you. If so, prepare to hate every car manufacturer in this country.

I agree with you. I am just irritated. Plus my other Tacoma’s were just fine. I actually like the sales side of my dealer, but the service staff hasn’t been very helpful with previous vehicles etc.

Yeah I understand your situation also. I’m definitely not going back to there for any service from now on.

I love in Winchester now so Battlefield is a little far, but I may still consider going there. We have a dealer in Winchester so that is an option too. I had my 20k done there and seemed decent.

Bring it to the dealer, they will fix it for free. But rest easy, it would take 10 trillion years for that weep (not even a WEEP, certainly not a leak) to drop your diff fluid to a noticeably low level. Address it at your convenience.

You are right, but the initial leak was pretty steady on my truck. I do t know if you saw the pics I posted but it was a fair amount of fluid lost for sure. This time is barely leaking, but yet it is still leaking on a “fixed” diff.

Lol yeah that’s a leak. I’ve got the standard oil spread... I didn’t even take it in.

I too have seepage(wet oil marks) on the rear diff, took it to the dealer they retorqued, cleaned and sent me on my way...told me if I don’t see a drip they can’t say it’s leaking...It’s been fine since. However I do spray FluidFilm all over it so I can’t tell if there is still seepage going on.

I get it, but this is an unacceptable issue for a less than 2 year truck. I understand things happen but there is a bigger issue here. There is a reason there is seepage on these trucks. I just hope it gets fixed and doesn’t return on my truck or anyone else’s. Just tarnishes the image of sound reliability.

Again I understand it isn’t going to destroy the truck at the current seepage rate... But it still should not be happening.

Would you buy a truck from someone if you looked underneath and saw that? I know most people wouldn’t. It’s just sad.

Ohh you’re absolutely right no reason why this should be happening on a new truck. Mine was about 5-6 months when I took it in for this but they still sent me on my way.
It’s been 7-8 months since I do have a 10 year warranty but not everyone has that and can afford anything going wrong with it.

Toyota changed manufacturers for their rear diffs at some point, at least how they’re made. It has something to do with the seal(s) and where it makes contact with the diff, because members have had the seal replaced and retorqued and it’s still “seaped”. Agreed it’s not good to have fluids leaking in any capacity.

Re-torquing really only has a 50/50 chance or less. Once a leak is established it doesn't work.

Too bad Toyota uses this shitty paper gasket. A nice 1/4 bead of RTV works so much better but if I had warranty I would touch it myself and risk voiding it

An issue with my leaf springs. Driveable, but they had some problems. Lemon is lemon in GA. I gave them 4 chances to fix it actually... and even a full replace didn't do the trick. So they bought it back.

Update... Well as of right now they are waiting to get advice from Toyota corporate on what to do. So I’m still in a loaner as of now. I hope it’s fixed this time and if not, we will address this again for sure.
