So the dealership gets paid for more hours. They are the same thing.

So why Toyota do this? They don't know how to do business or they have too much money? Imagine, if 1 update is $150 multiply by all 16 to 18 Tacoma?

    I'm curious, don't take it personal. :)

Its simple, deanships are in the business to make money. If they bill Toyota for more hours they are paid more money.

You missed my point. I know dealers are also doing business, but dealers and Toyota are partners. If you're Toyota, why you created something that allow your partners charged you twice for the same thing?

Excellent questions. However, dealerships are not owned by Toyota. They are independently owned and managed. They don't automatically get vehicles from the parent company to sell either. They have strict sales quotas they have to adhere to for that right. The money they make off the sales minus whatever Toyota charges them for them is used to run the business. So basically, they have to pay for their parts they use and sell, and pay all employees, utilities, and the lease or loan on the dealership itself. They pay for the use of the logo and the Toyota name too on the dealership too.

So when they can stick it to corporate to pay for a service they perform instead of it coming out of profit they jump at the opportunity to double dip. So while it may only add a little more time to the service for both TSBs but they are going to bill corporate for whatever the fee is for two. Sad part is, the tech doing the work doesn't see any of this extra money.

And "Toyota Time" is usually less than "Book time" :(.... The Tech and Dealership need to be "Perfect" to make any decent $$$$ off any warranty or "Campaigns" :hattip:

Took mine to the dealership yesterday and they did the 58-18 update and the truck definitely shifting better and doesn't need as much pedal as it did previously going up small but longer inclines. It also is better at keeping speeds between 70-80. Worth the update. I did push them for 62-18 but I've read here back and forth that 58 and 62 may or may not be the same. When I go back fro 10k service I will push them again for 62 but again... 58 has been an big improvement.

Just called Santa Margarita dealership in CA. They said if they can't duplicate it they wont perform the TSB.
Why is it so hard to get this done considering this is a well documented problem across the board.
I'm beginning to question why did I buy a Toyota in the first place and if this is the last time doing so.
I will try another dealer so please recommend.

I just got mine done and I'm very impressed. I have a thousand miles on my truck but even with it still learning there's a very discernible difference between throttle tip-in points and how it reacts.
The other surprising thing is my truck was literally built July 17th of 2018 and this software is newer software than what it has currently pre update.
Just a short regular drive from work and it was very prevalent that it reacted better with my foot.
I plan on doing the ovtune at some point when my equipment gets installed but for an update to newer factory firmware...very impressed.

This morning I got TSB 005818 done at 10K service.
1st of all, my truck was driving good most of the time. Great millage even in bumper-to bumper traffic, no gear hunting, smooth shifting.
But I had a few annoying things like "clunk", dead pedal, jerking between 40-50 mph, RPMs will not drop immediately after releasing pedal.
    All these are gone now.
Right after the service I took truck east on I-90. You can hear changes in noise of the exhaust going up the hill, truck is not laboring anymore. Now I can feel the "wire" between pedal and throttle.
    I'm excited.

Last visit to dealership (last week) resulted in 'we need to keep your truck all day and we can't give you a loaner vehicle.' So I had to leave because I have work. I took the morning off work today to try again and just got told 'TIS is down you'll have to come back another day.' So soon I'll be on my 3rd visit to the same dealership for the same issue. And my boss is less than happy about continually asking if it's okay if I show up late because I need to get my truck fixed.
