Quick Fix: Get under there with a wire brush head on a drill and some hand wire brushes, knock as much off as you can then hit it with some high heat rustoleum black for 2 coats. Will look nicer and keep the rust from coming back.

^That's messy though. Tremclad (same company as Rustoleum) has a conversion coat that I use on my skid plates. Works well so far, until they get scratched on the next wheeling trip.

Did my plugs at 41k. Piece of cake. Followed a video on YouTube. Had Denso in one side and NGK in the other. Installed all Denso in their place, gapped all of them at 0.40+/-.

Check out the junk on the old plugs. Also it runs noticeably smoother. Why anyone here doesn’t bother change them at 30k is beyond me. I should have done at 30k and I’ll be doing that from here on out.

Shock mounts were brutally corroded, one of them let go while towing on our way home from NC to MA. Exciting trip.

Was thinking I would have to get a new rear axle, until I realized I was not going to find one with a diff that had only 10k miles like mine. Long story short, got a set of $20 shock mounts from East Coast Gear Supply, and my mechanic's welding skills took me from this:

Yea I fugured there was still some good metal under all that rust. And i am not sure if its the angle of the picture, but it looks like your shock is mounted a little higher now and might have generated some lift on the back end.

The lighting pattern is not as evenly distributed, some brighter and dimmer spots. But it’s not terrible, if you do buy them you’ll have to do some up down/left right adjustments to get the light where it needs to be.

OK. A bit of a stretch here. After some research, Toyota of Dallas has a site called trdparts4u or something like that. Cheapest I could find it online. $375 I think? However, the shipping was 150. So I went to my local dealership here in kc and asked if they would price match. The parts manager was cool as hell and let me walk for $405 out the door. Granted I had to show him the advert from the website. Worth a try regardless of where you are located

That is absolutely beautiful... Congratulations. I'm looking to upgrade suspension as well sooner than later. However, I haven't seen much feedback on life expectancy on those. Anyone have some long term experience with the reservoir type over time in cities that see a bit of snow?

Something very handy for old farts and smart phone longevity. It's a device that pops out and slides between your fingers so you don't drop your phone. Or you can use it as a kick stand.

NICE! Anything to report or info on alignment specs? Im going to hold off on my install until i make a decision on my coilovers, then do it all at once.

So a few of my friends have had kings and other brands for a while. I actually got my rears third hand from a friend who got them second hand. They were a little oxidized, but nothing a little love couldn't fix. This pic was after probably 2ish years of use, and a little elbow grease just after I bought them. I then broke out the metal polish and got them looking almost new.

Granted Utah doesn't go super hard on the snow melt in the winters, so your mileage may vary.

A wise word was dropped on me when I was thinking about a lift.

Figure out what you want to do with your truck. What bumper are you gonna put on?, winch?, bigger/second battery? Go through that exercise, and then order your coilovers. It may be a little stiff at first, but it beats tearing it all back out again to swap coils, etc because you didn't plan ahead.

I had my kings in for a week before I installed my bumper last Saturday. It was a little stiff, but has really mellowed out with another 120 pounds on the front.

Also, apparently our cam tabs seize hella easy. I would recommend pulling your LCA bolts while you are under there, clean them up / lube them, and reinstall. I took mine in for alignment, and they couldn't get the driver's side to come in range, so I have a little bit of a right hand pull when driving. I take it back in tomorrow after soaking it all in PB Blaster for a week.

One last word of advice. Once you install your suspension setup and are super happy with it, DO NOT go into the long travel forum. For any reason!

I think I may have just committed many of my dollars to LT in the next 2 years.
