Thought everyone would appreciate reading and learning about the differences in production of our trucks. Also pretty damn neat that totally different production processes end up with the same finished product! Many people bitch about Toyota for not offering certain combinations in our Tacoma's but reliability has a cost by them not introducing too many variations to production.

What's the Russian dude say in the movie Armageddon? Something about "American spacecraft parts, Russian spacecraft parts; all made in Taiwan!"

Yep seen that article way back when, or atleast one very similar. Doesn’t matter how it’s built. What matters is the end result. Lots of debate about which plant is better or builds the better trucks. Believe me, Toyota knows those results

That's interesting to know most of the welding on the Mexican built tacos was done by hand

Sounds like my plant. Tuggers and fork trucks and people walking around everywhere. Very dangerous

Or any of the thousands of induvidual componentsfrom outside the factory were built on a Monday or Friday....

Or any of the hundreds of workers had argument with someone before or during work....

Also if any of those workers were stuck in trafffic on the way to work....

Or right before or after a major holiday......

    Or a bad weather day.....

    Or a bad hair day....

Or if Jupiter aligned with Mars..

I worked for a short time in a manufacturing facility in Juarez. First order of business for the day was eliminating 80% of the new applicants for line jobs because they had alcohol on their breath. Commuted back to El Paso each night. Bottom line: Glad my Taco comes with a "5" on the first digit of the vin number.

My 3rd gen was Baja-built. The only issues I’ve had in over 50K miles are design and engineering issues. No manufacturing process, let alone “workmanship” issues. As a native Californian who remembers when Toyota, as well as Ford, GM, Peterbilt, Mack and many others built cars and trucks here, I’m glad that my Tacoma was built in California, even if was Baja California.

Yes, I know. I’m a California, USA native, know its history and geography well, and I’ve been in Baja too. The Tijuana plant is in the Mexican state of Baja California. It’s just as much a “California” as California USA or the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, just a different California.

That is why they don't put the day of the week. No one would buy it. Started on "can't wait to leave Friday and finished on Hangover Monday'
