10 seems too low to go fast but I'll adjust accordingly. I know what the dunes are about on holiday weekends. Some people love it some people hate. I'm somewhere in the middle haha.

Yeah I mean it's not terrible as long as you're expecting it to be that way....it can still be fun. But if you're going for a nice, peaceful night of camping on the beach and riding in dunes the next day....you're wrong, lol.

I haven't been in the fall or winter months but I bet it's much more quiet than summer and holidays

I almost never do Pismo as a riding weekend. It is pretty much exclusively putt around, chill, and watch people be dumb. Riding and fun is saved for Glamis

Yeah that wrecker has been doing that daily for years, I think he makes a living doing it. He wanted $500 to rescue a guy in a 2wd Dodge Ram that got stuck with clown looking small street tires way out in the dunes...how he got that far I have no clue but we couldn't pull him all the way out.

Yep. He's a really chill guy and, from the chats we've had, he makes REALLY solid money doing that

I haven't done Glamis yet but it's on the list...honestly dunes aren't really my thing but it is something fun and different to do once in awhile. Next time I get the urge I'll look into Glamis

It is worth it, but not during summer. You'll melt

I have an ATV and a bunch of my buddies do as well, as well as UTVs/rails/dirtbikes, so we're often doing that stuff out there too

Summer is my 'relax indoors and save money for mods' time of year anyway...I loathe wheeling in the heat lol. Unless I'm headed for the mountains I usually just wait until late Sept to start wheeling again

    Ahh memories...

That photo doesn't do justice to how steep that sand dune was, kept sliding sideways down it and was afraid I'd keep sliding and roll over sideways. In hindsight I probably could have reversed at an angle and straightened myself out but I was pretty new to this stuff at the time lol.

I know. I remember how steep that actually was. I thought you were at risk of rolling as well.

Ok - that makes more sense. I inferred Glamis due to other quote

totally, I about shit my pants when I was in my truck and started sliding sideways...you can see the tracks from where I was headed along straight and where the dune started to pull me to the side down the hill. Looking at the photo makes you think it was an overreaction but being in that truck I thought for sure I was screwed lol. The reality of the situation was probably somewhere in-between but that was my first time driving in dunes so it was a bit of a learning curve.

Oh man, been there! Did something similar in Glamis. One of my buddies riding shotgun started to get out and the truck creaked - definitely a close call! and only like 2 weeks after I picked the truck up. I think another buddy got a photo of it but I have no idea where that went. I'll post if I can find it.
