What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Nice! My fix was a little more crude, but similar. I used epoxy to help seal the gap and holes. In hindsight I think calking would have worked better. Anyway, my fix has held up for over two years so far.

 

Is that airbox issue specific to the v6?

 

I used a sealer and then the bolts. I tried several different ways to glue or seal that just failed after awhile.

 

Yea, I tried just epoxy (that was formulated for plastic) and it didn't last a week. If you look in my photo you can see the heavy wire I used to stitch it together. That's what is holding it together.

 

I like the bolts. Looks like it would work good. Just make damn sure a nut never comes of. It would go right through your cylinders!

I forget which 2 but the are 2 belts that are almost the same size. You can install it the wrong way but then the other won't fit. Try swapping them

 

I just went and set up my stand and put some “attractor” out for tonight. Cows will probably get it before the deer though....

Fenders are so black!

 

For the AC belt, I had to remove the tensioner pulley, put the belt in place, then install the pulley. Couldn't get it on with the tensioner in place.

 

Hate waiting for paint to dry, lol

 

Why did you have to paint them?

 

I'm putting on new bushings, greaseable shackles/eye bolts, & new bump stops. Figured I might as well paint them while I'm at it. They're pretty old now, starting to rust in a few areas, especially on the bottom side bit it's all just light surface rust. Suspension is new in the front so it's only fair to spiffy up the rear.

I broke mine on sunday. was hammering the fender well and apparently my air box didn't like that

 

Thats why I used the nylon insert lock nuts

 

They claim the only thing wrong with the hardware I was given is that there is a missing lock washer... Nevermind I only have two actual bolts. They sent 4 Allen screws when there is only two countersunk holes in the whole thing.... And this is just for the IFS, for they trans they also sent Allen screws and there isn’t a single countersunk hole on that one
