We can’t all live in Canada!!

But, I hear what you’re saying. Really wish they made MT in all models, most people don’t know how to drive a manual. So, there’s the autos and countless threads about their lack of power, constat shifting, etc.

Can we start a new acronym for all generations called MTLB?

Right here in the South (Sport V6 MT). Canadians (eh?) get the OR V6 MT. The locker would be nice, but I like the stiff suspension minus the swaybar.

I upgraded my shocks to Bilstein 5100s and they are WAY stiffer than the stock Sport or OR shocks. Amazing on road and good on the slower speed off road stuff. I am afraid to remove my swaybar though as I drive a lot on crowded freeways.

    Update Complete!!!!!

First impressions. I thought first and second gear were just too big of a jump in this truck and that's why I struggled with those shifts even after driving a stick for 25 plus years. But no, alas, it turns out that Toyota Engineers are buffoons. And they somehow figured out a way to make a stick more difficult to drive. One to two shifts are now smooth as butter just like every other gear in this truck. How in the hell can a tune make a gear shift smoother?

Second impressions....similar to other members. This truck drives like it should have from day one now.

Throttle is much more linear. 04b10 was herky jerky throughout the RPM range, with like different stages of power depending on RPMS. Now it just builds RPMS and constantly increases power with higher RPMS.

3500 RPM "powerband" is muted greatly. Does not feel like there is less power just that it gets there more linearly.

1 to 2 shift is unbelievably better. It is just as natural as all other gears now. I can not fathom how a tune affects this but it does. Other members are spot on with this.

Mid RPM power/torque feels better??? not sure if this is possible either , but stomping the throttle in the 2000 rpm range just feels more responsive. May be placebo, but others have noted this as well.

I will test DFCO (skeptical this changed) and Mountain Pass power tomorrow.

So far no regrets. And what an embarrassment that it took Toyota this long to remedy this.

And for those on the fence about updating themselves, just do it. I bet the entire process took less than 10 minutes. I was sweating bullets for those ten minutes but it was fast and easy.

I took it off for an offroad trip with a lot of good and bad pavement mixed it then put back on for the 5k visit and immediately pulled it off for good. I've been hustle it through corners. I like just like it. If this was an on road only vehicle and we had perfect pavement, I wouldn't mess. Hell, I put beefier swaybars on cars in the past that needed it. Just my feelings.

    Right on! Another happy ex-04B10-er.

Another thing that I am noticing is that I can plunk it in 6th around 35 when cruising along. Although the original tune worked well-ish for me down low, that's 10mph slower than was normal.

That's sort of in line with what you are saying about the lower RPMs.
