Did you use the techstream and other files linked in this thread?

I had already downloaded a version of Techstream before this thread started. It was from the same site as the one linked in this thread. I used the 33 file that was in post 190-something. And I have the Tactrix cable.

I had the software installed on my laptop directly and we followed all the instructions as Techstream prompted (including opening the hood, radio/lights off, door shut with window down doing everything through the window).

This is also how I did the update on my Truck.

Thanks man. I should have a tactrix cable bu the end of the week. Just making sure I'm hedging my bet on not bricking my ecu.

My taco was built in August 2017. Do you think my current ECU is 04B11 or 04B12?

What is the purpose of having the window down and doing through the window. I would assume you could just sit in the driver seat with the laptop on your lap. I have no idea and have never done anything like this.

I guess I have it in my mind, sitting in the driver seat with door closed ( due to weather) and the tactrix plugged in the port with the usb plugged in computer sitting on my lap. Anyway. Who knows. Maybe it will be more apparent when I go to flash.

I'm always in the driver's seat when I flash my truck, door closed. I usually have the laptop sitting on the arm rest, but you could put it on the passenger seat too. One thing to be aware of, route the USB cable so you're not going to snag it. Sit still and don't mess with anything once the flashing process starts lol. Definitely don't try and exit the truck while you're flashing.

It's not that bad, and yes it will be apparent when you go to do it.

Cuz if your in drivers seat and using TS you might fumble into the optional double top secret ejection seat enablement. I gots a moonroof, so I'm good...but ya, you don't wanna be a pilot in that test flight

Abort...then restart from beginning. Do you end up back at same spot?

So your not connecting to your truck, maybe a driver issue? I had something similar. In my case I rebooted my pc, reconnect and all was fine.

First impressions. I thought first and second gear were just too big of a jump in this truck and that's why I struggled with those shifts even after driving a stick for 25 plus years. But no alas it turns out that Toyota Engineers are buffoons. And they somehow figured out a way to make a stick more difficult to drive. One to two shifts are now smooth as butter just like every other gear in this truck. How in the hell can a tune make a gear shift smoother. More thoughts to come later but that's my initial impression.

Keeping the inside lights/beeps off - minimize power draw... and it was 108 here today so I didn't want to sit in the truck (not to mention it wasn't my truck this time).

I haven't figured out how this works yet, but I would periodically get a grind when going into 3rd (clutch all the way down, yes)... hasn't happened since I updated. Happened almost daily before, so even though it is only day 2 for me, that is still promising in my mind. Hope it keeps up. My only thought is the rev hang, cause that is basically gone, but that still doesn't quite make since to me since I'd have the clutch all the way in.

The Clutch being pushed in only disengages the friction material from the flywheel. The throughout bearing which rides on the output shaft, is still connected to the engine and pressure plate through the ball bearings, rev hang can possibly cause the dog teeth to not decelerate and grind.
