I had a big oil leak and took my truck to a dealership to fix it because I was about to drive from Houston to San Diego. They said it was the rear main seal so they replaced that and it didn't help anything. They said it is an expansion plug (above the rear main seal) similar to a freeze plug just for the oil. They said they can't/won't fix it. Has anyone had this problem before and knows how to fix it without an engine swap?

assuming 3.4 here and again assuming you mean where the ball bearing is driven into. I wouldn't even know how to get it out to clean it. If it a 4 cyl and an expansion plug I don't see the problem.

    Yes. its the 3.4
And Im not too sure. They just explained it to me as basically being a freeze plug and being above the rear main seal. They showed me a picture of it and they tried putting some type of silicone on it but that didn't do anything. At the time I was just more worried about how I was going to get it back to California. Im assuming its the part where the ball bearing is pressed in.

I have an engine builder buddy and I will show him my picture and ask his advice... it might take me a day or 2 to actually speak with him as he is rather busy.
