    Hey guys,
Just bought a new 2018 Toyota Tacoma on Friday and at the end of the transaction, I realized that I only had one key, it should have came with 2 and a valet key. I made the mistake of not getting it written on the "owe sheet" and took the manager at his word and he wrote on the back of his business card that he owes me a key.
3 days later, they call and say to come in on Wednesday at 1000, I arrive at 900 and at 920, they tell me that the guy who programs the key has car issues and won't be coming in and we will have to reschedule. I took the day off from work to get this key AND also had to drive 45 minutes each way plus a toll. Needless to say, I'm a little annoyed.
What would you recommend is my best course of action right now? I'm trying not to resort to negative reviews on yelp/fb/google and slamming them on their customer survey since this was out of their control.
tldr; dealer owes me a key, they said to come in on Wednesday and the guy isn't there to program key. Drove 1.5 hours plus gas and tolls. Annoyed.

Have them mail it to you on their dime, delivery signature required or some such, to where you work. Or have it held for pickup at a nearby fedex/ups, or something.

They said they can't find the original key and need my Taco to be there so they can program a new one, which emans another 1.5 hour drive.

I do not see much you can do besides learn from your mistake (mainly), contact BBB (maybe?), write some negative reviews about the dealership, and talk to some management staff there about some type of mutual compensation that will benefit both of ya'll.

Yeah seems like that's it. It doesn't seem like they're not willing to do it, it's just that I need to find more time out of my week to go back and get it done.

It sucks, but bad dealerships are going to be bad dealerships. They sold the car to you... they are done with you basically. That's what it seems like.

Have them come pick up your truck and drop off a loaner. My dealership offers to do home pickups (not loaners, though, to my knowledge) for general service appointments.
Since they've acknowledged they owe you a key, there's definitely hope. You could lightly "threaten" a poor customer satisfaction survey by saying you are "hoping for a positive resolution to be able to reflect in coming survey response." Dealers should take that seriously, and if they don't... find a new dealer.

This. It's their mistake to make sure you don't have everything when you drive off the lot and this needs to be on their dime. They probably won't send a loaner though... the one time this happened at the dealer I wrenched at, I made a 5 hour round trip and just programmed the key on the spot. Not sure if new keys work the same way but generally, so long as you have the scan tool and internet, they should be able to.

Push for a loaner and settle for an actual appointment and maybe a tank of gas/car wash?
As long as it gets settled on their dime, I wouldn't get too upset. If you can get something extra out of them (please think small), then I'd consider it a huge win. At least they acknowledged their mistake and aren't trying to charge you for another key.

They just called and basically asked for an extra $500 bc they made a mistake on the contract. They said my military rebate is $500, not the $1000 they told me and what we signed on. LOL

Lol they trying to get you to pay for the new key. "Key guy not coming in today" was a runaround.

Hm, but they didn't try to offer any services or say anything further. The dialogue stopped after he said the key guy wasn't coming and that we'd have to reschedule.
