@condortaco I would definitely like to get a meet in with some wheeling. Do you know troy hill well enough to lead a pack? I've only been once, but it is decent wheeling and not too far from Pittsburgh. Or if you have some trails, I'd be down. Take the yaks and make a day of it?[/QUOTE]

Only been to Troy Hill once. Would love to go back. There's enough wheeling within 20 minutes of my house to keep us busy for an afternoon. So far September 8th and 9th look open for me.
Edit: or we could do a kayaking/fishing trip.

Im in pittsburgh for a bachelor party the 8th. Maybe do the 9th, but gonna be rough. I would be up for either wheeling or yaking and fishing. Guess we will see if there is any interest from anyone else.

Never been there, but Misfits Offroad a local to me group goes there quite a bit. Looking at the site it seems like a pretty rocky place. Hopefully my armor is ready in a week or so, and I won't have to worry about it as much. I would possibly be interested in this if more from the group go. I saw Daniel @M192 was interested. He was really great to wheel with, even though he is modded to hell and back. He took care of me when I went out to pop the cherry on my truck.

I wheeled there with him when his truck was completely stock except for general grabber at2 tires. It was really fun and more challenging in full body trucks rather than lifted golfcarts (Jeeps).

Well if he can make it stock, then it seems like everyone should be able to find some trails. I would be interested if we can get more from the group interested. I just don't want to waste a day and 6 hours of driving to run with a bunch of Jeeps i don't know.

I was there awhile ago (7ish years) and they had a good amount that my stock 1st Gen (+skids) could go on. Not sure how the trails evolved since then though.

Doooo it! 50' of fun would be a good trail for noobs haha nah it's a fun place. But I would NOT expect to go and not get scratches. I mean if you are not ok with scratches and maybe some minor dents then probably not worth the drive. It is fun though. I don't think they have a lot of green trails though....its been a while since I've done greens so I don't remember.

Thanks Daniel. I think i would be more comfortable with some sliders on. I am hoping to get some skids from a member in a week or so. Rash is one thing, bare metal deep scratches are another. I wouldn't want to have any that went through the paint.

Looks like a better idea for next year when I set up a little better. But also enjoy the more technical driving more than driving through mudholes.

Anyone else in this thread interested? Or should we try to wheel near @condortaco

The worst thing to deal with out there is the muddy ruts that you don't know how deep they are until someone goes through them. That and what's under the mud, trees, boulders, etc...

I wheeled my 2003 Sport Trac with no skids or sliders and my plastic gas tank hung 2.5" lower than the frame. I extended up building bumpers, rock sliders and swingout tire carrier for it. Never got around to building a gas tank skid plate though. 3" bodylift with 1.5" lift shackles and 33x12.50x15's.

If I can find a way to haul the Sami, I'll go. Let me see what I can come up with.

I've got a couple places in mind. It all depends on who all's coming. That'll also decide if I'm taking the Taco or Sami.
