Built my 50th set of 2nd gen 4.0L motor mounts today

Still running on my OG first gen 3.4L mounts that I made back in 2003. Zero issues.

Well, wish me luck guys. Didn’t realize DTF was putting out a bad product. Back when I bought them the only reason I didn’t go with Bonzen was DTF also made the trans mount.

And like I mentioned before, even after buying a bunch of DMZ’s products I was unaware he made his own set.

I may end up cutting some 1/4” plate spacers to relieve some of this stress. But these were in from the frame a good 1/2-5/8” on either side. Just need to get the truck on it’s feet for now.

By the way, DTF included bars that screw up from the bottom and clamp some tabs that come off the inner/lower portion of the frame perches. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get it to work on the drivers side. The tabs are asymmetrical from front to rear and aren’t flat enough for the plate to rest against.

If I have to redo these I’ll use a gantry crane to pull the engine up and remove the axles. The URD headers are very much in the way of the bolts on the engine side of the mount, that will add a lot to the suck.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Hopefully that’s not the case. I remember when @DTFtacoma made the mounts he did so because he said the other mounts he was trying to use weren’t lining up on Jordan’s truck. I’ll contact Anthony and see what’s up. I’m too busy to install mine so I planned on having my buddy install them for me so I can keep working on customers trucks. Not trying to screw my buddy if the mounts are screwed up. If I can’t get any info from dtf I may have to order a set of mounts from somewhere else and compare the two to see if their is any difference in overall dimensions. If the mounts are screwed up their is no way I’m gonna install them. They are either right or wrong. If they end up being as far off on my truck as they are on @Hawk373 I’ll need to have a back up plan. I don’t plan on eating the money in labor.

i think its camera angle but ill put a square on it and verify when i get back home in a couple weeks. possible it got tweaked a tiny bit from it rubbing. but the rubbing started out of nowhere before it could have been bent

I made my own jig for my motor mounts using a brand new rubber mount from Autozone. Finally got around to trying to installing them and they wouldn't line up at all. I had to grove the mounting holes on the mill to finally sit in right. However after milling the mounts, the motor almost hung instead of being supported up. I threw my old mounts (65k miles on my truck) into my jig and sure enough there's about a 1/4" difference in height so I'm being forced to make new ones with better geometry to hold the motor up. Don't know if this is also the case for DTF or what. I should of bought Ryan's mounts but I'm a DIYer.

There’s also the difference in the measuring the dimensions of the rubber mount uninstalled and under weight. I think that’s the variable that makes a proper solid mount difficult to fabricate.

I’d love to see the out come. No intention of bashing DTF, just an unfortunate situation. Looks like he makes good stuff in general.

Just bought ADV +2 fiberglass for all four corners of the Raptor. I know it’s not Toyota LT related but I’m stoked. Can’t wait to get it mounted. :spy::spy:

Back to the regularly scheduled LT BS.

Cool stuff, curious to see what the +2 glass would look like on the raptor. Why are you getting wider glass...moving up on the kit?

Just need +2 glass to clear 37”s at full bump. No LT for a long time. Probably never. Would be cheaper to buy a built 1st Gen and pull it with this. That is the dream anyway.

Ah yea...37s would do it! What sort of MPG would you expect to get with that?

I messaged him on instagram this morning. I’m definitely giving him the benefit of the doubt. I know my frame is straight. So if everything is good they should go in smoothly like the other manufacturers mounts

I get 12mpg or so. Same as my last LT Gen 2 Tacoma with 35”s.

Yeah that was my major mistake. Since my header was smashing the coil bucket I figured my mounts were that worn and tired when I detected the height difference while making the jig.

I've been daily driving my Raptor since my actual daily shit the bed and the Tacoma is getting upgrades.

I did my motor and trans mount last year. They sucked. I jigged up the oem mounts and it stayed in tolerance pretty decent. They just look like ass, but that motor is locked in there now.
