Just my 2 cents... I figure if it's rated for 500-600 lbs that would mean "in addition to the stock parts". Therefore if you remove parts, you should net out the weight differences. I'm no expert so I could be wrong but that's how I thought it works.

Edit: what Mike said above... :headbang:

I don't do welding. That is just the truck. I'm a design engineer. My work is very interesting, but the workload is wild even though it doesn't seem like it since I'm always on here.
The pay is annoying and the benefits are crap. Just getting sick of being the lead of every project. Been here just to make my resume good. It's a small company so I have my hands in a ton of different parts besides just design too.

Been thinking about jumping over to areospace.

With that logic why not add the weight of the bed of the truck? That's on the leaf springs too :poking:

    The way it works:
You need 500# of ADDED weight. Which means that doesn't include the bed, the stock bumper, any STOCK parts that are already apart of the truck. If you remove 80# and add 170# you didn't net 170# you have a net gain of 90#.

^ Another way to look at it from this perspective.

We're really only going back and forth about an insignificant amount of weight for @itaro 's situation. He needs more weight no matter what and end of the day 80# won't be much of a difference.

Ah I didn’t realize you were a fellow design guy as well. The pay is average at best at my job. But I’m ready to relocate out west so that’s a lot of why I’m choosing to leave.

Technically 2nd but I don't count the 6 month internship at another place. Yeah it's my time to jump. Plus it's easier to get better pay instead of keep bugging for a raise.

100% accurate. Aside from my last job where I went from a Sr. Network Engineer to IT Manager all my significant wage increases have been obtained by bailing on one place and going to another.

Which sucks because I don't like doing that.

Or (if you actually like your current employer) you use the new offer to force their hand with at least matching it to keep you there. I feel like people severely underestimate how easily this works (albeit, if your employer is "good", you should never have to resort to this).

Kinda like how all the single women won't pay attention to most single men in bars but flock to guys with rings ;)

Haha same for me man. There was one guy who has bumped himself three times by jumping ship every time in the last two years from my company. I was a little surprised how much he has made at this point, but he has always been a smooth talker too.

I think that is the issue right there...finding a company that will value their employees. Mine used to care right at the time I joined 5 years ago, but they have not fought in any negotiations to keep anyone and we are an international company with over 12000 employees. We have lost so much talent to competitors that it’s amazing we still win some of the bids that we do as others have our expertise as well. What’s funny is my company seems to get furious if the more senior folks choose to leave as if a certain level of seniority doesn’t demand a raise in any capacity anymore. If the FAA comes through, I will be happy to move on. I don’t think my team will be that happy with the amount of work we have as it’s easily the most we have ever had, but hey if you don’t take care of your folks...well...
