You are entitled to your opinion even when it's wrong. My HP & torque keep climbing.
Eric of Relentless Fabrications got a chance to drive mine & he said it had more power & get up & go than the V6s
You do what you want with your Taco & I'll do the same with mine.

    Not mad.
I just got tired of you without a clue telling me what I need to do to my truck so it would be how you want it.

I think I would disagree with you on losing to a stock v6 in the 1/4. The 4 cylinder is geared more aggressively stock, and in drag racing low end torque doesn't matter as much because you are only at low rpm when you launch (rest of the time is 3k to 5500 rpm). Plus, looking at the dyno of a stock v6, it dies near the top of the rev range like most NA engines, where as the supercharged engine keeps climbing. so there is more area under the curve where the engine would be in a race.

For crawling, of course a v6 will have more torque, but thats what gearing is for and what made toyota 4 cylinders so famous.

@4Wheelin4Banger So when can we see a drag race lol

Well I guess there's a way to find out...
For what it's worth the NA V6 also puts out slightly more power with higher octane fuel which Randy guy here now needs to buy

I definitely think it would be close, and if you regeared the v6 to be just as aggressive it would likely win. The other factor to consider is the fact that a supercharged 2.7 will likely use less gas when offroad and many people see their mpgs increase slightly under everyday driving conditions, but should you need the power, just downshift and rev it a little bit. Engines have their highest VE when under high load at low rpm, which, looking at the dyno posted above, is exactly how the 2.7 operates under 2.5k rpm.

Obviously revving it to redline because it's fun will cause a significant drop in mpg, but thats not how most people drive every day.

Not to mention the V6 won't be getting the advertised HP & torque.
Mine was supposed to have 159HP stock & I really don't think going from stock 245/75/16s to 265/75/16s on lighter wheels took away almost 30HP

Revving the little 2.7L up puts the fuel economy way down in the toilet and any fuel savings you could get from the supercharger are eaten up and then some by the higher cost of premium fuel not to mention that there's no way you would ever be able to recoup the initial cost of the supercharger in fuel savings. I always cringe when I hear people say their MPGs went up after boosting.
But enough of that! Who gives a shit about MPGs in a lifted truck that goes off-road haha.
Guy built a really sick and capable little 4banger! I loved mine (except for the NA power of course) and I would have probably boosted it too if it weren't for suddenly needing a backseat so it made sense to switch up to the V6 (which is also far from fast...) but I bought the V6 b4 letting go of my 4banger so I swapped axles. Now I got 4.10 gears in my 4.0L and once that gets swapped for the 4.7L V8 it's gonna be alright power wise.
I still wanna see a real world comparison now between this boosted 4banger and a stock V6

Yeah, I said that, revving it out will cause bad mpg. As far as mpg offroad, that impacts your range and how much extra fuel is required, so minimizing fuel consumption always seems like a positive to me. I don't look at the mpg saving as making up for the $5k supercharger, but you also have to consider that the v6 costs significantly more than a 2.7 off the lot.

I agree haha, your rig sounds great as does 4Bangin4Wheeler's. I would definitely want the v8 over everything, but living in California doesn't make that easy.

    1. Anyone that knows these engines knows that they get their best MPGs when you shift between 3000 - 4000 RPM.
Guess what when I'm not hot rodding it (because it's so much fun) I'm still shifting between 3000 - 4000 RPM.
    2. Not even close to the reason behind this
    3. truth.jpg
    4. That's why I did it. I needed more power & got it.

What part? Saint Tony? This is going on a 8K to 9K trip around the country this fall. Extra Crispy (Corpus) is on the list of places I'm going. I'll be camping in some places & just crashing in the cab at others in between visiting family & friends.20180527_192955.jpg

Cute. Money where your mouth is?

You're right about the shifting part. It sure likes that RPM range . Poorly put earlier but I meant to say that the fuel economy goes in the toilet when you make these engines work hard such as towing or going faster than 60

We can figure something out. I have no start or end date yet & have no idea how long I'll be on the road (my guess is 30 to 45 days)
I started on your Turtle build & I'm liking it. I was going to build my bed to sleep & store under in mine until I got the trailer & RTT.
Now I'm building a 5' pullout to hold my CFX75DZW, my cooking choices (pizza oven, gas grill, 22" Blackstone) on pull out detachable shelves (so I can take them to backyard or campsite) & a bunch of other stuff. On top of the pullout will be quick fists to hold the frame of my 9' inflatable pontoon boat & trolling motor.
