I have a DCLB OR and want the benefit of a trifold tonneau like the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 so I can keep gear in the bed with a relative amount security.

I think that there are only two rack systems that work with a Tonneau. Need a rack to carry my SUPs.

The KB Voodoo is cheaper but doesn't look as clean as the Dissent racks.

    I'm sure both are great.

Can any of you chime in with your advice? Am I missing anything? TIA

I’m the opposite lol. I think the KB looks way better than the dissent and that’s what I’m eventually going with.

I didn't like how the bed is pretty much under utilised now that you have a mid height rack. Defeats the purpose of having a bed.
I would have went for a 4runner instead if I wasn't going to use the bed. The dissent racks gives me that option all the while keeping the bed dry when I have a soft topper installed.

Not to mention how it's flush when you get the cab rack

I have no plans for a soft top. I’d get a camper shell but the wife hates them.

I’ve had a tonneau before. Don’t want to spend thousands on a roll type tonneau. Just want to be able to lock my paddle gear or work gear in the bed, outta sight while being able to carry my sUps

It seems for OPs use case, the KB is the best product.

I have the KBVoodo Tacoma bedrack in 'full' (18") height. I've had them installed for about 6 months, RTT, Rotopax, shovel ect hanging off it. No issues, no paint flake, no rust. I've been pretty careful to use a paint pen when I do scratch it, or knock paint off. I did add some brackets to the rear corners to stiffen it up some, as I noticed a shimmy at highway speeds. With that, this rack is super solid. Especially for what you pay for it.

It really depends on your uses and goals, and I agree, for your intended uses, the KB would be your best bet.

I'm still on the fence about a cap, or soft topper, or nothing...

I like both options listed, and the Leitner rack set as well.

unless something has changed you can't open your tonneau with the KB rack.
and probably the same with the Dissent one.

My only complaint with the KB Voodoo is how terrible the paint has been with mine. Its never been on in the winter, had it less than a year and its already peeling in so many spots. And its only put on the truck when camping. Its actually only been used three times as I got it at the end of last year and have been so busy I've only been camping three times so far. All the other times I've gone off road I just did day trips cause its so close to the trailer.

And when not in use its stored indoors. Yet the paint is utter fucking shit already.
From what I understand there was a batch of powdercoat that got ruined by their coater but mine wasn't part of that batch.

From what I understand the ones that were replaced for customers an entire panel would peel. Mine isn't to that extent but still, where the rack sits on the rails has peeled about 5 inches up. The side panels are starting to peel in all different spots.

I had a KBVoodoo rack and also had a paint / powdercoating issue...

from my understanding, they have since solved that problem and went w/ a quite durable powdercoating system....

I will be ordering another one here before the end of the year

@KB Voodoo isnt even paying me for this post

Op, feel free to contact me anytime. I would love the opportunity to go over some of the things that set our rack apart from the rest.
I will say the biggest difference is aluminum and pressed in hardware!
That being said, the rack you go with will highly depend on you intended use. I'm more than happy to go over some pros and cons with you. IMG_0841.jpgIMG_0737.jpgIMG_1327.jpgIMG_0032.jpgIMG_0049.jpg

I wouldn’t buy the KBvoodoo rack. I had mine on for a few weeks and the “powder coat” all bubbled and flaked off. They sent me replacement parts for the ones that did that and guess what?!?! The replacement parts did the same thing!

One thing that turned me off VooDoo is if one chooses to mount a non conventional RRT, like the iKamper, it WILL NOT clear the shark fin as I understand. The dissent one will clean the shark fin as I understand it. For me, that is the deciding factor.

Powder coat issues are a thing of the past.

Our 18" rack should clear the fin with a iKamper.

Should? When I measured, it was ~1 inch to short, and from the pics, it also appears to not be tall enough, but I could be wrong.

If you examine the pictures, the rack sits flush with the top of the cab. However, this would not allow the very long ikamper to fit slightly over the cab because of the fin.
