I have a 2009 DCSB V6. 232,000 miles on the ODO with the back up screen in the rear view mirror.

I went to back out of my drive way this morning, put the truck in reverse, and the screen flickered blue, then just nothing at all, no signal, no fuzz, just nothing like it was a regular mirror.

I checked and wiggled the wires from the camera all the way to the main harness, and nothing is loose.

Is there a transmission sender that notifies the camera to turn on once it's in reverse or do you think the camera in the tailgate is bad?

Same issue on a 2011. Sometimes it works. Sometimes "BSOD" and then nothing. Hopefully someone has some pointers.

Well, I replaced the neutral safety switch and that didn't work. I ordered a new back up camera so if that doesn't fix it, I'll order a new rear view camera.

Yup. A new back up camera with some dielectric grease on the connectors fixed it.

Thanks! All I did was unplug my tailgate to take it off. I put it back on a week later and I have the blue screen. So far all I've done is use electrolytic spray. Sounds like the issue is with the camera then.

Did your old one ever work again after your 1st post?

I bought my truck with a walk-in cap, so no tailgate, no camera, and whoever installed it didn't cap the truck-side plug. I bought a tailgate with a camera and it did what you described, I just figured that camera was dead and shrugged it off. Then one day I was backing in at work, and just happened to glance at a fuzzy image in the mirror.

I've since cleaned up the pins in the plug and put dielectric on it, but haven't even got a fuzzy pic again, just a second of static and BSOD. I'm curious if it's worth chasing the connection more (buying new pins) or if it's fooked.
