You should take him down Pilot Rock trail

Had a friend of mine from Texas come up and I put him on some easy trails and told him to work his way up to pilot rock. Well he went straight for it and found himself with a torn up bike and a few hours in the ER with a major concussion

Thankfully he got it on GoPro so we could all laugh at his expense

    Don’t know where that is.

In all seriousness I learned how to ride a bike 8/11/17 so it’s safe to say I’ll stick to pavement and dirt roads for now

Yea I could see myself loving it. I was a guide in WNC for a long time so I have hiked most of the trails out there. I have daydreamed of mountain biking them

We only ran into one closed gate but it was on an off shoot trail. There is a fork on the trail that you can take up to the top of the mountain (easier trail) or to the right which is the rocky and off camber part that just comes out farther south on Max Patch Rd. I was in a prerunner and made it through the rocky stuff pretty easily so most 4x4s should be fine. Wouldn’t go alone on that section tho since some parts are sketchy and pretty off camber.

I would be willing to go up to max patch the back way, it's nothing like hurricane creek, just a steep dirt road. 12 mile also has some fun light trails of varying difficulty. There is a few others I know of in that area, Message me if you want more details on any of those.

I’m gonna leave that one alone :anonymous:

Theres a ton of forest service roads in that area

I’ve scouted most of the trails in 12mile as well. Beautiful area and I happened to Stumble across an old stil that looked lik it hadn’t been used in a decade. Needless to say I backed out quietly with gun in hand.

Madison County has a nickname "Bloody Madison". Caution would be a good word.

Yeah 12 Mile is said to be where Popcorn Sutton did a lot of his work, a lot of history up there.
