I just ordered my CB/AUX hood mounts from @RelentlessFab for both driver/passenger side....now I just nee a CB

It was payday I need a good antenna to mount for my HAM........suggestions?

Maybe I watched the original one too many times.

Those things pick up emergency services transmissions like a scanner? I’m very unfamiliar with radio technology.

@gixxerphil must have misunderstood you the first time. It'd be a different antenaa to put into one of those mounts. And you'd have to hog out the material a little bit to get it to fit. No big deal. I'd have to look back into the clean cb/VHF radio set ups to find an antenna for that. It's in there somewhere.

And yeah that radio isn't cheap. Haha. But I did the buy once cry once approach. I know I'm into this stuff now so I got a drop proof, water proof handheld that does dmr (worldwide) and I can also use the front panel to punch in whatever local repeaters I want. The nice part is that my mobile rig in the truck can cross repeat. So if I'm camping in the woods and hook up my backup battery to the truck, I can go camping 5 miles into the woods with my handheld and use my High power radio in my truck as a middle man. Or if I'm out on the boat and need to tell the Mrs I'm going to be late . Haha

Nice! I was looking at those too. People seem to really like them. I only went with mine because of the waterproof feature and that I don't need to go into the menu to enter an analog frequency.

 

If I really enjoy this HAM stuff, I may just get a radio for the truck and then use that hood mount. If not........IMPULSE BUY
