Nope, the CRC campaign is still alive. My frame was coated last month. It passed the frame inspection probably due to the fact I used to hose my frame down every fall with a half dozen cans of marine grade corrosion resistant spray. I'm now kind of kicking myself for doing this as I'd rather have gotten a new frame.

I'm not looking forward to doing any work under the truck now as that goop is everywhere.

I had to have a conversation with my dealer as my truck was returned with no gas (frame spray facility was 80 miles away, so 160 unexpected miles on my truck) and with overspray everywhere (even the roof), plus grease smudges on the interior. Plus, they left someone's lunch bag / trash in my passenger footwell. They detailed the truck inside and out for me.

To put a positive spin on the situation, my frame is still covered under the replacement campaign if needed until 2022 and I'm not going have to spray it anymore.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
This was 'complimentary'. lol. It's mostly maintenance stuff that I will do on my own and nothing that I wasn't aware of previously.

I figured they would come at me with some additional 'recommended' repairs. No thanks. They are getting a $10,000 invoice to bill Toyota for already. Advised that if the sway bar links have to be cut, to toss the swabar in the bed with the rest of my old parts. I'll buy new end links and bushings and put it back on myself.

I waded into this whole deal extremely cautiously due to fears over this type of thing. Waiting for them to tell me that it's not safe to have the SRS light on. Another dealer had supposedly done the recall fix on that, but the light came back 3 months later. I don't like the dealer, so never went back to get remedied. TPS light is on also...i use a gauge to monitor my tire pressures, thanks.

2007 double cab here in Canada with 125k. I bought the truck a few months ago but just received the notice in the mail to have it inspected.

I called the dealership and they insisted since it was already inspected and sprayed in 2016 that I was not eligible. I was firm that I had found a hole and wouldn't be surprised if there was another somewhere else . They finally set me up with an appointment for inspection this week but they were convinced I'm not allowed to have it reinspected since it already passed 2 years. And I am well within the 12yr in-service date.

    What do you all think?

That frame needs to be replaced.

If you are within your date, and it's got a hole of qualifying size, I think you get a new frame. I don't think it matters whatsoever if they inspected/sprayed it 2 years ago. (BTW, this proves that the spraying is worthless.) I think the dealer is shining you on, and if they won't give you a new frame, a communication with Toyota HQ might be in order.

I completely agree. I've seen from earlier posts in this thread that some people were refused a frame with a qualifying hole simply because they weren't allowed a second inspection. I'm not sure if it has changed since then but from what I've seen from quite a few members recently is that previous inspections don't matter as long as you are within the in-service years.

I have a friend who used to do frame swaps but that now works at Lexus and the service manager over there believes I should get a new frame based on photos alone. Across the street at Toyota may be a different story.

As for the spray, you are completely right. It was sprayed just over a year ago and had barely any mileage put onto it and still looks worse than it originally did. It's simply a cover-up to get people through those "12yrs".

I'm going in on Wednesday so I'll keep everyone posted.

This is definitely nice to hear. I'm trying to keep note and at least screenshot as many of these as I can for when I go in on Wednesday. It would be nice to have proof should they end up saying no.

    I'm up in Canada but I don't think that makes a difference. I this it's 12yrs and that's that.

I still can't believe how the ENTIRE coating has completely flaked off my frame after 1 year. I feel bad for those that were denied as it definitely doesn't give me any confidence.

Posted as reply to question about a second inspection. My dealer did one inspection last November, no 10mm hole. Not eligible. Went back for my second inspection this June after I found a hole. Now have a new frame.

Read the settlement agreement. All of the obligations and eligibility are spelled out.

I did specifically have to point out the “ incidental ” wording to my dealer when they told me I was on the hook for bolts.

    4. If the Class Member disputes the findings of the Toyota Dealer conducted pursuant to this Frame Inspection and Replacement Program, the Class Member may take the Subject Vehicle to a second Toyota Dealer for another frame inspection.

    Elsewhere in the agreement.

If any perforation exists, but no perforation is 10 mm or greater and if the vehicle has not previously received CRC or a new frame, pursuant to the prior LSC, then the frame will be cleaned and the CRC will be applied for Subject Vehicles located in the CRC States. If any perforation in the frame is found to be 10 mm or larger, then the frame will be replaced, as well as all applicable parts and service items incidental to frame replacement.

This is amazing, thank you! I'll have to read more into the website to better inform myself in the case that they play hardball.

It would be ridiculous to deny me a second inspection even just based on the fact that the coating is completely gone after a year.

    Thanks again!

You are still eligible! Had mine inspected and sprayed two years ago. Needed a new frame last spring and got it! No B.S. about it having a previous inspection. Inspection does not preclude them from a subsequent frame swap if it is found to be bad.

That's definitely good to know. It may have been simply the dealership not knowing this but I'm hoping I won't have to fight. Truck drives amazing without any rattles. With the new frame it would help me keep it that way.

Did you get any kickback from the dealer, or was it a no questions asked after inspection? I want to prepare myself in the case that they tell me it doesn't apply.

Going to pick up my truck here after work today. My part of the bill $192. (agreed upon for extracurriculars performed) Toyota's cost $10,3XX.

A bit nervous. Hoping no problems pop up. Truck ran and drove fine when dropped off.

Will be happy to get out of the Crewmax Tundy loaner.

Check the bed alignment. Mine was crooked. They torqued the lug nuts way too much and it warped a newer rotor. Brake line hanger was left undone. License plate lights weren’t hooked up.... not to scare you but things I learned the hard way!!

Mine was inspected today after originally telling me that I didn't qualify for a second inspection.

They called me after the inspection was done and told me they took pictures and sent them to Toyota Canada. I should be expecting news next week.

For sure, check everything you can. However, my truck came back from the frame replacement just fine. Better than ever, really.

Service writer had me text him the pics I took. 45 min later he called me back to tell me they were ordering a frame for it.

    Check it over very closely!

 What is this the dark ages? Mine took 45 min.

Agreed, but I'm hoping it will be good news! I have a friend that used to be a tech there and says that pretty much means I'm getting a frame but they just need corporate to approve it and when.
