Just in case @OVTune was wondering what I'd like for my birthday today, that fresh tune he's working on would be a nice email to open today. :)

Yes. If you sell it to a private seller, sell the tune and cable with it I say

You may have to reach out to Mat via the support email in the first post to get the stock tune file if you dont currently have it. He is about to release 1.05 in about 4 or 5 days.

Just flash your stock tune over it or get the new TSB that will over write it.

A lot of people have asked and we have finally sourced enough to offer...

We will now have an option to purchase pre-tuned ECUs on our site. Simply buy the ECU , select tune octane, and send us your VIN.
They will be pre-programmed with our tune for whatever octane you like, and programmed to your trucks VIN number.
Plug the ECU in, marry it to truck (super easy process which we will explain. requires no tools).
    done.

    cost will be $475 shipped.

If you would like a back-up ECU programmed to your VIN to use with tuning if you already have our tune (some people asked for this?) we can do that too for less.

Very limited amount for 2018 trucks though.

ECUs will be here in roughly 10 days.

Thanks Matt, very appealing from a lower cost standpoint for those that want the ease of use. Would they essentially be hardcoded so no updates or would you have some sort of service around them for shipping back for updates? I can see the appeal of just plugging it in, but the ability to easily get patches and future revs by just flashing on my one would be the way I'd go when I can my $ going.

Generally it would be just plug in and go, but if someone wanted an update they could put a deposit on the hardware, flash update, ship hardware back, deposit refunded. Unsure about that at the moment.

Could all the ECU functions be edited by you? Like if the auto headlights are disabled they could be turned on via tuning? Sorry I know its off topic.

No, because many of those electronics are not controlled by the ECU.

The ECU controls the engine / transmission. The actual truck has MANY control modules in it. Body control module, 4x4 control module, etc etc etc

plus many things are controlled by the dash / gauge cluster as well

For clarity, I can be slow occasionally. This may help a few other followers of your wok as well.So restating what you said in the fashion that my little brain "gets it":

The $475 shipped includes 1 tuned ecu with 0 need to send one's current ECU in as "core". So, the purchaser would then own a Toyota ECU and an OVT ECU.

If one wanted to update that ECU from OVT, purchased for $475 tuned, they would pay a deposit (core charge), receive a new (second) tuned ECU, return prior (first) tuned ECU, get deposit (core charge) back.

Assuming you followed what I said and it is correct:
Is it safe to assume that this update via mail would like generate a shipping and handling fee, possibly an additional nominal charge for update services?

Remote programming. User connects his ECU to his computer. You “dial in” and update the ECU. Bing-bang-boom.
