So, folks- Just bought my first Tacoma 6 days ago from my neighbor. 97, 3.4, 4x4, 5-speed. It will be SAS'd... in about 3 years. For now it's my parts runner and pick-em-up-truck for doing stuff around the house.

I've lived in Charleston for the majority of my life.

Those people that work at MUSC are angels among us, in my book.

I'm sorry for your son's medical issues. I hope he's doing well and improving all the while. My heart goes out to you (I know nothing of your son, nor do I need to.. but I've been there, done that, to some degree, and happened to just luck out in that we live a handful of miles from the best medical care team for his condition in the US)

Welcome! Check into the SC BS thread too if you haven't yet.

Couldn't agree more regarding the folks at MUSC. We've discharged a lot of specialties already but still have a few lingering ones that'll go away in the coming years. When the care team becomes more "friends" than just doctors, they have a more personal attachment and that becomes irreplaceable.

Thanks, but I'm not much of one for BS and gossip. If I wanted that, I could go to Pirate. While I do have an account there, it's a morass of HS. For every great source of tech (Billavista, and those like him) there's at least 100 morons that can barely run a keyboard, that think they know everything. If I was into that, I'd be there or on facebook. ;)

So I probably ought to introduce myself...

Without this getting too long.. I'm a computer network engineer. I weld, hack (in the most productive sense), and do various things centering around "to build". I solder, have been part of the "maker" movement long before it was a thing, and have way too many tools.

I'm 47, and feel it most days. I have an 18 year old son who's getting into auto mechanics and welding, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him become involved in the local 4X4 community in a big way in years to come.

I grew up in the area- Mt Pleasant, way back when it was the village of Mt Pleasant and it wasn't the crap it has become (seriously, Mt Pleasant Town Council- you ARE NOT Greenwich Village. Stop trying to be that, and stop building shit on top of shit). I fish, poorly. It is more about relaxation and cheap therapy for me, than catching dinner- though I do love getting that thrum of the rod in my hand as a fat Red strikes. I would dearly love to start hunting, but I am adverse to ding so on public lands, due to the preponderance of dumbasses with guns and liquor in their hands at the same time. Don't get me wrong- I'm a gun guy, and love a good bourbon or scotch, or just a can of Coors, every now and again. But not together, especially if I'm doing more than cleaning the weapon.

    My plans for the truck:
-SAS, D44 from a Wagoneer in the front. Quite possibly a D44 out back as well (I have axles sitting around doing nothing)
    -custom bumpers and armor
-topper, capable of supporting a rack
-4" lift, 35s. I want to keep this as ow as possible while fitting 35s (33s are a possibility as well) in order to keep it streetable and usable as a DD and pickup truck.

Fred Anderson Toyota service dept customer service sucks. Brought the van there and that’ll be the first and last time for any of my vehicles. Will happily make the 3 hour round trip to Stokes Brown Toyota in Beaufort to continue having them service my vehicles.

OK I got lazy. Never made it out there. But by next Saturday, it's going to the dump. Let me know if anyone wants it.

Hey everyone.... I'm new to the forum but I currently live in Charleston and have been looking into lifting my 07 Tacoma. After a bunch of research I think I've decided on the OME coil/bilstein 5100 kit from headstrong with LR UCAs and rear progressive aal. Does anyone know of any good spots to get a lift installed in the Charleston area? I can't seem to find anything that isn't outrageously priced. Lowcountry 4x4 quote me $1,050 to supply and install bilstein struts in the front and 1" blocks in the back with alignment. Seems ridiculous to pay that much for two struts and two blocks. Maybe I am wrong though....

Welcome to TW! @ahspurlock is a legit mechanic that does work on a lot of local members rides so he could probably help you out. Also, check out the SC thread here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/south-carolina-bs-and-gossip-thread.411211/

Welcome to the group. I'm new as well.

That kind of pricing structure is why I will eventually be going SAS.
