How do you get to these trails? I want to explore that area more, but so far have only been on the side of Hurricane Creek that has the off camber stuff.

Go to the Harmon den exit (exit 7) and turn left. You’ll go under the interstate and turn back east bound on a broken paved road. It’ll bring you to a bridge crossing the river. GO SLOW BECAUSE WHEN THEY RELEASE THE DAM YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CROSS.

That road will take you into 12 mile. From there you’ll see a ton of trails splitting off that main road.

The other access point is into TN side of 40. Can’t remember the exit number and would have to get my old gps out to see the trails I scouted. I can do that later this evening if I get time

Seriously, that bridge is low and when the water is moving over it.. I don’t think there’s a vehicle heavy enough to make it across. You’ll see if you go out there. Keep that in mind too when you’re trying to leave.

How often do they release the dam, or is it kind of a make sure its not raining that day thing?

I think once in the morning and once in the evening as long as they don’t need to release it due to rain. You can look up the schedule online for the pigeon river. Pigeon river rafting schedules their trips around the release of the dam so base it off of that.

I found this website. They also have an automated number you can call for the release schedule.

It's been awhile since I've ran across the thread so I figured I would ask here. There was a thread where some members shared their .gpx files of the trails and trips they took. Anyone remember which thread that is? And yes I've searched with no love.

Well I was looking for the trail gps recordings. So I can import them in an app to get an idea of where the trails are at.

The pic you sent me in dm off of 12 Mike, you have directions to it?
