Go to Mobil1 website, it's hard to pass up using it with that rebate.

That is a hard deal to pass up, but I'm done with oil changes for the next 18mo or so. Just ToyotaCare for now.

I'll have to check that out because I need to order about 3 of those 5qt. 2 for the Tundra and I guess just 1 for the Tacoma. The little I have left over from mine can go in the Tacoma.

5.5 Quarts was on the 2nd Gen 4.0 so it's possible you may have caught a chart from that.

So I can't get the oil filter to budge at all. I even broke a filer wrench using a breaker bar and I can't budge the damn thing. And yes I am turning it the correct way. Are they backwards in Japan?

Anyone got any ideas because they must have used F'n glue on it or something. Even my impact will not make it budge.

Sounds like the typical dealership Toyota Care gorilla grip. Take it to them and have them fix what they've done.

Oh I am. I used everything and can't move it, even broke off one of the tabs. So I'll be sure they replace that as well and a free oil change since I'm going have to fill it just to dump it in a couple days.

It can be a bitch to take off but just a little courtesy information for you before you go in and start flaming on some poor people for thinking they over torqued your canister. I did mine yesterday for the 2nd time after doing the previous oil change on my own. I hand tightened and applied tons of oil on the threads and newly replaced gasket/o ring. Guess what? It was still EXTREMELY hard to get my canister off. I used so much torque that the filter wrench was wedged on and I needed to use a pry bar and hammer and wood just to get the filter wrench to release off the canister. Chances are they didn't over torque and it's the natural process of the plastics and o rings expanding and contracting due to the heat cycling. If you broke it im sorry to say that's completely on you.

Are you talking about Break Away Torque or just Running Torque? The Canister only gets tightened to 18 Ft Lbs, if it is requiring so much force to break it loose and wedging up the wrench it sounds as if it was installed too tightly. These do have a bit of Running Torque but I believe it is by design since it is on the bottom and they do not want it to accidently come loose.

When I first did my Tundra, I had to use my breaker bar and it took a little muscle, but it came loose no problem and has been fine since. This one though, I can't move for the life of me. They are closed today so I'll call them tomorrow and see what can be done. I just need them to take the damn thing off so I can put a new filter and get a new canister cartridge since this one now has a broken tab. Hell they can replace it under warranty if they want, it's only a $30 part.

Break away torque caused my metal wrench to wedge on the plastic canister. This happened even while I was the last one to install it by hand (last oil change). So it was not over torqued. My post was relaying info that the canister can be really tight even under torqued since last change.
