The price, the face lift to start but those are subjective. The transmission shift system is the biggest reason. I tow a camper a few of the guys I know who tow and have a 3rd gen are not thrilled with higher revs on hills and such. The 3rd gen motor has more HP then the 2nd gen but slightly less torque which may be the reason for the higher revs I am sure @Tacoma Mike can school me on that.

Have I driven one no, nor have I towed with one so I am going off friends seat of the pants opinions so I could be way off base. I will stick by my statement though not a chance would I go to a 3rd gen.

Makes sense! I brought mine back to Toyota after having it for a month because of the quirky transmission.
I actually like the look of the 2nd gen better but we didn’t decide we needed a truck until the beginning of this year (well, I’ve always wanted a truck but that’s another story) and my wife wanted a new truck. So there you go...not to mention I did get a killer deal on it.

He's gotten rid of most of the equipment - most customers took their business to China. There's still a few machines left though. They're converting to a automotive wiring harness shop. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Few months? How about a few weeks. Season starts September 15th. I'm grading road edges now from where they keep driving off the edge of the chip seal and exposing the edge to keep them from crumbling as bad. Between that and fixing the dirt roads where they cross the washes so they don't screw up their rigs. I don't care about their bumpers, I just don't want to see them drag their septic tanks and lines off and create a huge (smelly) mess. Some of these people have 40'+ rigs pulling trailers so they have to be pretty clean and smooth

I have been hunting one for a long time , they are hard to come by around here most do not even know what one is or what It can do. The pressure they can generate with just the mechanical screw system is awesome . I am trying to bring up the pictures from the guy who has the one I am going to look at this weekend .

Sorry man, just got home and saw this message. I didn't get any other pics today. I don't think my friend is getting rid of any more equipment, but who knows. Of course, I doubt you'd want to drive to Chicago to pick it up anyway. Yeah that's a hell of a machine. It's pretty cool using it. It's a time capsule of how men used to work, like when my family moved to da Sout' Side from Poland to work at the mills.

Sadly though all that work is moving to China and elsewhere, and all the awesome presses, etc., that have been in my friend's shop for 3 generations won't be going to his son.

Opinions are like azholes everybody has one and they all smell funky, there are a awful lotta opinions here on the TW.

I’m running a Bilstein 5100 setup on my truck with a progressive add a leaf in the rear, got it set at 2.5” there abouts. You could level out yer truck using the 5100s, it will give yah a bit firmer ride and get the better performance off road than the OEM shocks.

I have been known to drive a fair distance for the right equipment and the right price :}. Hell someone here almost had a line on a Heavy 10 Lathe I was working out a way to go to Florida to get it :} . The furthest I have driven for a piece of equipment was 5 hours away. But you do not find sets of Stakes and Mandrels for the decent price very often.
