I'm looking to color match the outter grill on my 2012 Tacoma (it's currently chrome). I was considering just going to a shop, but I'm now leaning towards just doing it myself. The color I'm matching it to is "nautical blue" or 8S6 for the code. I was recommended to use duplicolor but they don't make the color I need. Does anyone know any other brands for the paint I need or really any advice on the project at all? I'd even consider buying one if anyone has any good website recommendations. I've already tried eBay. Thanks for the help in advance!

Sure thing, also be sure you get some adhesion promoter for the chrome. Youll want to scuff it up lightly with sandpaper, hit it with a couple coats of adhesion promoter, and then a good auto primer, then base, then 3-4 coats of clear

Haha that's next on the to do list. Just have to find the right insert for the right price first.

    It's not two things

    It's one thing

    Upgrade grill
Step 1. Get color matched grill from Gunny

Step 2. Find a new insert

Step 3. Cut up new grill

Step 4. assemble new insert into new grill

    Step 5. Mount new grill

    Step 6. Sell old grill

    1 thing
    6 steps

    Get steppin

If you do decide to paint it yourself use a self etching primer after you scuff up the chrome and then lightly sand the primer smooth before applying the base coat. Nothing else will get a good hold on a chrome surface and it will flake off.
