    I was projected to be 6-2. I stopped growing before HS.

    The wife’s GC has the 8 speed and while it’s not super shift happy I don’t necessary see the reason why it needs that many gears. More things to break, I suppose.

    It’s like the 7 speed manual. Even with the 6 speeds I’ve had there’s always been 1 or 2 useless gears. In the STi 3rd to 4th dropped the revs by like 700-800.

    Saw this in my travels today. If it were closer to me I’d be looking at it. If it were a turbo I’d be writing out a FS post for the Vette.

    Yeah it's funny how things evolve over time. I mean 26" tires are all but obsolete. And yeah, cross shifting has always been a pair to explain to new riders as they couldn't get why you can use any gear you want.

    In my best Pepperidge Farm voice, (I) "remember when" we used to have to get everything aftermarket to drop the third chain ring, lock out the set screws on the front derailleur, and get chain guides to keep everything tight. Wasn't always the norm.

    The one thing that I never thought would take, but did, was electric shifting.

    Well that was back around 2004..ish? Not my bike. I just have since lost the phone which had my pictures on it. I believe complete was about $2200.

    I worked for a bikeshop and got everything at cost. Plus I bought the frame and built it from there.

    Downhill mtb basically is the prototyping for future Mx parts. Cheaper to do r and d that way

    I can't see putting that much on a bike and what a 1K bike would get you over a 2K bike, unless you are doing some serious racing for $$.
    Much like some golfers do, but I'm not a biker.
    I'm sure your having Fun and that's what counts!
