    And the ability for future tunes and upgrades. With the ECU already programmed you get what you get.

    $475 for ecu thats pre tuned(send in for future updates) vs $780 for locked software, locked tune, and a tool. I would feel ripped off unless he was at-least throwing in free custom tuning to optimize the map for the individuals car

    You get free updates and he has mentioned many times that he will have a custom tune request form in flash manager.

    custom tuning is already an included thing, as soon as our logger is done. I'm in the process right now of hiring a second developer to finish it. My primary dev has just been sitting on his butt for too long.

    Preset ECUs come with 1 tune no ability to change it. Unless you send it back, which would be tedious.
    Also for everyone reading the ECUs are not brand new, they are recycled and were using for software tests.

    send an email to support@ovtune.zendesk.com for the files

    Paying more for the ability to switch between octanes or back to stock whenever I choose is worth the extra money. Live with your decisions and move on.

    This is an apt debate in which to say, "buy once, cry once."

    I know that at face value people want to instinctively say that the pre-tuned ECU is the better value, largely because most people hem and haw about the expense for the current tune, and balk at paying that much without understanding the benefits, what they're getting, and that the price is comparable to or better than tuning options for other vehicle platforms. The main scenario where the pre-tuned ECU is worth it overall is if you've no intention of ever changing the tune you're running or are okay with sending it to Mat every time you want an update, which would be tedious as he said.

    Do yourselves a favor and pay the $770 or save 169$ and borrow a friend's tactrix cable, but still give yourselves the freedom to flash as you please. The majority of the people who want to be tuned will appreciate the freedom to swap around as necessary, rather than locking themselves in to one tune, and likely only because the lower price point was appealing

    @OVTune
    Will these tunes also do the shifting problems or is the TCU seperate?

    Looks like if you have a dua battery setup utilizing the empty space on the passenger side you might be out of luck.

    I get that message a lot also. I’ve found out that if it’s saved as a hex file my computer can’t open it

    All respect. But i just see what appears to be intercooler piping. I don't see Mr. Slug slurp'n the exhaust. I won't get excited until I see that.

    I’ve been quoted. Woot.

    I hope 1.05 is killer. The new tsb update for the ecu is fantastic.

    How do you get at the ECU module to change it out? That sounds like it might be a pain, but I really don't know! I believe it's some where behind the dash.

    There's another thread in the 3rd gen forums where a guy bricked his ECU, there was a post about how to remove the ECU. It didn't seem very difficult, but not as easy as hooking up a cable to a computer and tour truck to flash the ECU yourself.
