I've hammered the shit out of my NOX carbon wheels. Never had an issue. My Giant TRX wheels however (also carbon) dented on a fairly mellow ride.
Lumping all carbon wheels into a pile and saying they posses __ properties makes no sense. They can be built to whatever properties the makes wants. Some are more compliant, some stiffer, some lighter and fast and some heavier and burlier. Just depends. I can totally see how SC does that warranty, they know most peoples concerns, so they built them burly. I have no issue running carbon hoops on anything, only downside is $$.

The Danny MacAskill video where he tried to destroy a set of those rims was a blast to watch, he barely succeeded at the end.

Only problem anybody ever runs into riding glacier is filming said trails and publishing anything...that’s a no no,otherwise it’s pretty chill. It’s the best shuttling in the state!def worth a visit if you are into steep shit, kinda similar to cypress up in north van

Yea, I agree. At least there's peace of mind when dropping all those $$$ with the Reserves.

Not really enough info here. If it’s a 3 or 4 year old bike that just needs some maintenance, it could be fine if you are mostly riding fire roads here (I’m also in SC). These roads go UP and a 29-er hardtail is the best way to climb them. But in general it’s probably not worth significant upgrades ... a new fork probably won’t help make descending Wilder Ranch Fire roads any smoother. And, you haven’t said much about your budget or if you would do the upgrades yourself or pay a shop. But just be prepared, if you do upgrade you may finding yourself spending more time on the singletrack than the roads ... and having even more fun. Whatever you do, please support Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz mbosc.org

I'm right up the road from Wilder, so thats exactly what I had in mind. Its a Marin Alpine Trail. Super entry level. I replaced the chain and cassette last summer. Thinking about tuning it up as best I can and doing a ghetto tubeless for now and maybe going for a big upgrade next year.

Edit: I usually prefer to do most work myself. Research online etc. I did go to SV Cycle Sport today though and drool over a new bike. Haha

When you decide you want to move on to a full sus bike both Ibis and Santa Cruz headquarters are right there. Both will let you do a factory demo for a full day for like $40, and SC donates that money to trail maintenance organizations.

I went there today for my first time mountain biking!

Went over the handlebars in the first 10 mins, was seeing spots and threw up. Just got finished getting cleared for concussion! I did continue riding for another 3 hours after wiping out. Kona bikes had a tent set up with demo bikes, so we did that as well.

Glad you’re okay. Wifey and I did our first MTB ride last week. Luckily, we stayed vertical although she did have trouble dismounting on her first attempt.
