I know 2 people with the harbor freight winches. Both have worked every time we've used them. If I could afford warn I'd get one. As of now I have neither.

In fact it's the 100% opposite.
I'm spending more a month now than I ever have. It just goes to debt.
I currently don't have hardly any money cause as it comes in it goes back out to debt.
But to put aside $500 in the next few months for a smitty built wouldn't hurt. Few hundred a month an ill have one by years end. But $1700 is quite a bit for a warn.

I’ll probably get a winch this next year, mostly because I’m 2WD and travel alone a lots lockers and a shovel won’t get me out of everything.

 

I don't know why I need to have a specific trail or trails that I'm going on that I need a winch anyway.

 

Also never been stuck with a group only when I'm alone.

 

I’ve found that I use my winch more for recovering other people’s trucks than myself.

 

Yeahh this would happen too. But I don't think I've ever had to pull someone out the would require a winch over a strap. I'm just looking for self recovery.

I was lookin at those too. just thought a 10k was the right weight range for my truck?
I honestly know nothing about wenches other than I coulda used one a few nights back when I got myself stuck.
