So I'm going to get a custom alignment for the first time this Saturday...been going to Firestone in the past with my lifetime deal but they won't do custom numbers and I'm tired of always having a crap alignment.

What kind of numbers should I shoot for? I've been told 3 degrees caster does that sound right? I need my wheels to move forward a bit so I don't rub my sliders so bad at full lock

I also think a lot of bed racks are way overkill, I'd want mine as simple as possible for what I needed. Eventually I'll have one just to mount a RTT, and probably shovel, axe and hi lift under it

They won't? I have their lifetime too and told them the suggested numbers after my lift and I think they did it

3 degrees is about perfect but don't fret if you get more. It will put the tire closer to rubbing tho

I called them today to set up another appointment but this time asked if they could do a custom one with numbers I provide, they told me verbatim "we only do what the manufacturer recommends".

I have been told that there are other firestone locations that will do custom numbers, but it depends on which one you go to. My local one won't apparently, which sucks because I got the lifetime deal a little over a year ago. It usually gets my steering corrected and straight but it doesn't last for shit...and this time around with my new tires I don't want them wearing improperly if I can help it

Sounds like you have other issues then like maybe you need aftermarket UCAs or bad tire rods or something

Why do you want Firestone to do the alignment if they say they won't do custom settings?

For that matter, not many places will do lifetime alignments on lifted trucks. They know you are going to beat on your truck and there is a good chance you will need it aligned again.

They count on people paying extra for a lifetime alignment, but never getting another alignment.

I'd want to go to a place that has a tech that has been doing them the longest.

I'm not going to them this time, I'm going to a new place that specializes in working on custom vehicles. I got the lifetime deal through Firestone over a year and a half ago before I knew any better about the difference in a custom alignment versus a stock numbers one.

Yeah the one I've heard about out here in LA is about 45 min from me and has one guy that works there that will help you out if you bring your truck there on his shift...guess it just depends on who's working at the location

Do you guys have a Belle Tire?

They do mine. The tech gets it to factory specs then hits print. Nothing is locked down at this point. After the printout is done, he will adjust it to where I want it. I toss a $20 Subway card to him. Everyone wins.
