Looks like you answered your own question. You can get a contractor grade cab height cap from this place
    http://www.usedtruckcaps.ca/
I bought mine out there for 1200 - 400 they gave me for a trade in of some other cap that was a different color/make. My new one is a leer with 3 sliding windows. It's about 175-200 lbs so that is something to consider. If you want to keep your current cap you could just do some internal bracing for when you hit the trails.
Fuck, don't quote me but you might be able to get 6 from the trade in. I would post that on Kijiji for 8 firm.

Honestly all depends on your usage. I love my cap with bedslide setup. Works perfectly for all I use it for. I'd love some more headroom in there but then I'm pushing the cap height up also.

Time for a flatbed sir, what do you use the cap for?

You have nothing in it by the looks of photo, get a bed rack for all those expo points.

Ive been toying with a few ideas. Soft too bed cap with a frame around it thats easy to remove, frame will hold crap then i have a mostly dry and secure bed. Remove rack and fold up cap, have a full bed.
Thought about contractor cap, ruins the look, bulky and not easy to remove by yourself.

Honestly, for what i use my truck for, @tacoma16 will love this. Im thinking summer 2019 will be flatbed zr2

On route via fedex.... I'm hoping for early next week arrival.

Lemme know how it works out at NW...your cousin named Frank? Also, there is a tech there runs a pretty nice Tacoma, pro rims.

Id like the extra room. Looks like you can turn your contractors cap into a nice camping rig

Scrap your plans you need CVOR for a flatbed and subject to a ticket if a cop stops you.

that's some confusing language but ya if you modify it you need a CVOR. @tacoma16 @Ttaco15 you tracking on this?

It will be an “unmodified box that duplicates the one installed by manufacturer”

Will be same size or smaller.

Plus i would love to see them pull me over for having a flatbed, plus it will have some kind of canopy/cap on it most all times.

If i ever get stopped in the future if it happens, ill pay the ticket and whatever the ticket is I’ll personally deliver you the same amount of money and say yoy were right

I found out about that afterwards. I think it pertains more to a commercial heavy duty vehicle that will be hauling alot of weight.

    Hey guys!

So I had an adventure! First time taking the truck down a very mild trail. Truck is amazing! Love it.

    fullsizeoutput_407.jpg

At the end of the day I go to put it back in 2wd and it doesn't go. I tried for an hour and searched this forum and tried all the suggestions. Nothing. Toyota roadside assistance to the rescue!

    IMG_20180817_173135.jpg

So it's fixed and home now but the leaf springs are squeaky as fuck! Is this normal? I'm coming from the coil spring world lol

Dirt gets into the leafs and causes friction and you get a squeak. Need to pressure wash the shit out of them. Could also be the bushings getting dirt in them as well. A clean should do it.

Was the t-case actuator the problem?

You got slush box or MT?
Don’t tell me that you blew front actuator? It’s quiet a common issue aparently...

Leafs will always squeak unless you fully disassemble them - separate each leaf and spray wash with water. Mine sounds like its a 20 year old truck already...
