It was the actuator. They weren't going to cover it under warranty because I was off road when it happened. I kindly reminded them I bought the off road model and it says off road on the side of the truck

Oh I am with you, the famous shitty electronic transfer case from toyota... I had the same issue with the secons gen, they keep making that crap for 13 years in a row.

I told my delaer it happened on the road tho, so they coverred it.

It’s a $1000 part and can break on anyone anytime, I would start looking into manual conversion, people done it here.

Good luck on fighting the dealer!

I'm thinking of doing the same. I have a softtopper, and an apex bed rack I'm thinking of cutting up to go over the softtopper.
I'll have to definitely widen the rack a bit, and make at least the last bar removable so the topper can still fold in.

    Its a good idea forsure,

I just spent half an hour talking to a local fab shop, flatbed is the way.

They’ll work with me, build the frame. I’ll cut the floor and attach it, make mounts to my frame etc. Flatbed will be about $1000 then the rack plus a little Australiain canopy, i like peters full cab on the bed but I don’t need all that space, im make one 3ft by the bed width to store my fridge on a slide plus a little kitchen and the other side will be all my camping/sleeping stuff. One toolbox on the side for recovery and random crap. Spare tire on the back of the frame. The fab guy is going to make a 3d cad drawing etc. Im think 2-2500

No fight at all. Kudos to Race Toyota in Lindsay.

I will for sure have to look into a manual conversion. I miss my jeep for that

I would have gone the same route if I had the time to get it fabbed. I barely made it to the first few trips with bolt on stuff. Really look forward to seeing it all pan out.

Yeah same here. I love the cap and slide I have. Since the slide doesn't come out all the way, I'm going to build some shelves in order to better organize the space towards the back.

The odds of them doing it are rare
its obvious yous and peter's are for camping etc.

Its different if its clearly a work vehicle. If the guy was to stop you he's just a cunt in a shit mood trying to get a ticket written.

Went camping this weekend, little jealous of this overlander setup, minus the minivan part.
$4000+ set up, slick little tent
