^ No problem. Just make sure you're making the sliders out of DOM or HREW steel. If you have any questions I can help you out. i've built my own skids and sliders already

Ouch! Looks like your in need of some sliders too.

Im ready to go wheeling again but am busy for the next couple weekends. I will be more confident next time. This was the first time I have put the lift and truck to the test to this level.

I got sliders I just need to finish them and put them on. But I would be up for seeing what kind of skid plates we could all come up with.

I'm in the process of ordering some materials:

    4' x 8' sheet of 3/16" steel for skidplates...

    (3) 21' x 1.75" x .125" tubing for sliders, bumpers, etc...

Maybe a 20' piece of 1" x 1" x 3/16" angle iron to weld "spines" on the backsides of a few of the skidplates for strength...

My shop at work is fully outfitted:

    - plasma cutter
    - band saws
    - torches
    - rollers
    - Mig welders of various sizes
    - Stick welders of various sizes
    - hydraulic sheer/punch machine
    - drill presses

Too bad I can't host a day at my work...

I'll let you know what my material costs are, and how everything turns out...

    :D

yah, 3/16" is not over kill. thats about the thickness that most companies use for taco-armor.

1/4" is actually getting closer to over kill tho:p

lol ummm. .. if 3/16 is overkill.... why go thicker? lol
I went back up to left hand this am and did the rest of the trails. There was a few tight spots, but nothing the locked rear-end couldn't handle. I did however put a cat scratch on my running boards. Time for sliders!

Maybe the weekend of the 19th? I met a guy the other day who's working on a job site that the scraps could provide square tubing for the sliders. the round tubing is also in the works, but due to the DOM or HREW needed its hard to find discounts lol.

    Bone stock for now!
The one I built is 5/16. Trail rigs are not light weight, although 1/4 should be good enough it just may show more and take less abuse.

I just got back from camping up on rollins pass. There was still a ton of snow so there were some good mud holes. I'll be down in tarryall the last weekend in June.

Did you ever find out the costs of the materials?
I would like some additional skid plates and I know Jeremy needs some roll bar tubing. Im also thiinking about fabing up a structure to put in the bed of the truck to hold up some kayaks or canoos above the cab. I would be down for a day at a shop for fabricating. Like Jeremy said between the both of us we have a tube bender, welder and grinders.

I just bought and installed the ATO skid. It is made out of 1/4" plate and weighs 80 lbs. I am very impressed by its quality. If you are making one, make sure the rear and middle bolts are recessed. Getting all the holes to line up properly would be the hardest part.
