So, I saw this video (start at 2:55) and it looks like you can use the reverse camera in motion without the anytime mod. But, uh, is this going to tear up your truck?
    https://youtu.be/oArR67SBpW4
Someone feel free to test this out on your truck and let me know if it works.

A Toyota dealer advocating that you shift into reverse at speed...what could possibly go wrong...idiots.

Feel sorry for the future owner of that SSM OR...

I've done this before and mentioned it on TW and bunch of old guys always freak out at the idea lol, but it does literally nothing to the truck and in fact ANY modern transmission you can do the same thing. It'll turn on the reverse lights and rear camera but just put the transmission into neutral. Good for freaking out tail gaters thats about it.

I was taught this by a toyota engineer at a training seminar for the tundra years ago when I sold toyotas. Its legally mandated with any gated shifter so that you don't accidentally destroy your transmission if someone kicks it forward.

Calm down putting a car into neutral is not really dangerous you just don't understand the design of a modern transmission so the idea freaks you out. Pushing in your clutch while driving is the same exact thing yet no one would bat an eye at that idea....

    Mmkay internet tough guy :luvya:

You may want to re-read my post...at no point did I say it was "dangerous" or that it "freaks me out". I also said nothing about putting it in to neutral. The dealer rep in the video advocated putting it in REVERSE, not neutral, and that is the context of my reply.

Reading and listening comprehension are important here. :hattip:

Lol the only one failing at comprehension is you as that all went over your head.

"what could go wrong??" nothing, nothing could go wrong by putting into neutral and "putting it in reverse" IS putting it in neutral, again you just don't understand whats mechanically going on so it scares you lol. Its physically impossible to put a modern automatic into reverse while in forward motion, this is by design, and trust me the engineers who designed it are much smarter than you...

I'm aware. There's so many new members on here since it was first brought to market, and it's definitely overlooked with everything else we have on here.

First, you obviously missed the sarcasm...and second, nice job making an ass out of yourself...nothing more needed from me.

And don't bother responding with some other lame flaccid comeback...I already don't give a fuck.

That salesman did not win my trust. I would ask to speak with someone else.
