If Toyota found a fatal design flaw and “bought back” your Tacoma, what would you buy?

Another Tacoma or F150 I would get an electric car once i can drive 350-400 miles at freeway speed with AC on. That's what I can get out of my Tacoma

I'd go Honda Ridgeline. It would get me through Indiana winters and haul my Home Depot load back to the house. I test drove one before buying my 2018 Taco. It was a decent second choice. It obviously rides like a car, but it handles my needs. I know that's not the same for everyone. Honestly, I only bought the TRD Off Road because it had the color (Orange) and running boards (Predator) I wanted. I also didn't like how the SR5 does not have push-button start. I lucked out and the dealer had mine configured with the tri-fold cover.

Ridgeline has the creature comforts, serviceable AWD, and a pretty sweet trunk in the bed. I'd go EX-L for the trim.

One thing to note, the new Chevy Colorado is great to drive. I drove one as a rental until I purchased the Taco, but I cannot bring myself to purchase anything with that ugly gold bow-tie.

If money weren't an issue, Land Cruiser. For the same money I'd rather have another Taco minus the "fatal flaw" ;)

I am on the fence for a move to a 2018 4runner but the dated interior and crappy gas mileage have me on the fence

Maybe a Mazda CX-5 Diesel. I generally despise crossovers, but this one is the glorious exception to the rule. It is SO torquey

The new Jeep pickup or the new Ford Ranger would be my choice. After this 2016 Tacoma I am done with Toyota I will never trust them again. When I had my 1989 Toyota pickup Toyota was a great company. After buying my 2016 Tacoma I find Toyota not to be the Company they use to be. I will take my chances elsewhere if I ever buy a new truck again. The aggravation in getting engineering issues resolved and the battle between the dealers and Toyota Corporation in getting the TSB's installed. I should not be put in a position to have to beg to get updates. All new cars have issues, that's not the problem, its how those issues get resolved, that's where it all falls apart. I plan to keep my truck until it drops, crashes or is stolen then no replacement Toyota for me.

I'd go for a 4th gen 4 runner, then scoop up a 2wd Tundra and build an LT truck.

But since people are talking double tacoma price. I'd get a new Jaguar F-type Manual. That's next car on my radar.

Thanks for that mate. I'd be keen to eventually get an access cab 1st gen tundra and just go nuts. Right now I am - not aggressively - selling the 70 series and will replace it with a 40 that I plan to line up in Australia or South Africa and just ruin it with crazy mods.

Had a 4th gen T4R, great little car with the V8, Wouldn't mind another if the deal fell into my lap but now I have a 5th gen T4R for the Misso and I'm content with that. Still casually searching for an IH Scout 2 so I cane do what the old man had planned for his when I was a kid.
