Well, if that is indeed a serious question I will provide the actual reason. Because trust me I thought about it.

My house to Bozeman is 2050 miles and 30 hours ONE WAY. Round trip that’s 4100 miles and 60 straight hours of driving.

So 10 hour days that’s 6 days of nothing but driving, without my GFC to camp. Best case mostly highway speeds 70+ I’ll get 17 MPG. 4010 / 17 = 241 gallons of gas at $3/gallon Avg say about $750 in fuel alone.

I won’t have my GFC to sleep in so I’ll have to hotel or ground camp on the way out.

My GFC was pre-ordered so delivery is Gratis. Be pretty silly for me to use $750 in fuel, and at least a week off to get something that’s gonna be delivered for free...

My wife and I are planning driving to Yellowstone next summer but plan on at least 16 days for the trip. A blitz to Montana and back alone does NOT sound like fun.

Besides I do have the vacation time but already have it scheduled for 10 days off in Mid-November to camp up the Outerbanks, I’d have to cancel that trip. No, I don’t want to sound like I’m whining but that would make very very poor business sense. No thanks.

Oh and a cheap one way flight is $550, than rent a truck for a 2000 mile journey, pay gas and still have to install it. Nope.

As I said in my org post about this GFC offered to crate and ship it so if I was in a huge hurry I’d take that option. They already have my buddies address for commercial delivery he has a huge set of forks on a tractor so we could install it together easily.

I’ve already missed my 3 big trips for this year. Last one is Mid-November so as long as it arrives by than. I just want to know it’s coming... and obviously I’d like to use it for a few weekend trips to the Adirondacks to test it out.

It's a four day trip. Two 15 hour days to get there, pick up on the morning of the third day and head back. Not a fun vacation trip but it's doable with a minimum of time of from work.

Yes it could be done.... but why would i want to drive 15 hours a day for 4 days...if i don’t have to. Just doesn’t make any sense. Again my shipping is FREE, that makes it very different. Actually it doesn’t it’d pay $1000 bucks to have it shipped rather than spend 4 days driving 15 hours. I can work those 4 days and make a lot more than $1000 bucks and spend very little on gas. No Thanks.

Ah, so you got the gratis shipping. So did I. I've always thought that they went a little overboard on that offer.:) Not a good business decision. If you recall, they also said that you'd receive $250 off if you picked it up in Bozman. I'm going to pick mine up but I'm in Washington State. About a 600 mile drive.

I think it was a great business decision. They've been delivering them to SoCal and doing a bunch of meet and greets. From what I remember, they've actually sold a couple to some people in person after seeing it at these meet and greets too. They help install it and make sure everything's done correctly.

I remember some customers had their gfc's damaged via freight also. Even if its packaged perfectly, the freight companies could care less about what they are delivering half the time.

I plan to put one on an access cab, and the channel below the roof hinge looks like a great place to mount a few round off-road lights. I assume that GFC has already thought of this and has something in the works for future development, but has anyone already tried this? I though that perhaps the awning mounts could be re-purposed to either hold one light each or you could use two to mount some kind of cross bar.

    Thoughts?

From my knowledge, everything is doing the free white glove delivery since they are still fulfilling the pre-orders.

Most aftermarket lights come with a mounting system. You can just use the camper track t-nuts to mount them on. Thats how I did my dust light in the back of the camper.

I believe that is correct as well. Not sure where the cut off was.

It was a gamble for sure for GFC but one that seemed to pay off, they raised enough capital with that initial push to REALLY expand.

If i was 600 miles away I’d take them up on the $250 in a heartbeat!!!! But sadly I’m just too far!!!!

On a completely unrelated topic about 3 years ago i was offered a job in South Eastern Washington State, i just couldn’t get the wife convinced it was a good move... Richland area. Still wonder what life would be like out there.... sigh

I love that side of the country.

That might be a cool setup. I generally dislike brobars as they look stupid and work great at lighting up your hood, but it might work well in this application set further back.

I also noticed a bigger than expected drop in MPG with mine, especially at higher speeds, so hoping a wind deflector can help with that.

Last time I was with Graeme they were talking about a roof rack system that would run off the camper shells tracks to over the cab. Seems very cool and functional.

Yes, this area is beautiful but, unfortunately, the British Columbia fires are wrecking the camping season this year. Its been smokey, hazy and marginal air quality for much of the Summer. The delay of my GFC would have upset me more but given the poor local air quality, I probably wouldn't have camped much anyway. I'll camp this Fall and head South in the Winter.

Apparently mine is in production now. I didn't get this email update, did it say if it was affecting the units that are currently being built?

    It's DLX son!
It wasn't clear from the e-mail. I have asked them for clarification right after it went out on Wed. but have not gotten a response.

Two weeks ago they were saying all was going to schedule and I was good to pick-up the week after labor day - now a little concerned I might have to cancel my plans.

Thanks. We've given up on waiting for the GFC and are going to go enjoy what remains of summer without it! I just wish we had known not to wait earlier in the season.
