Yeah, I don't deal well with heat, which is why I live here, not Pheonix, lol.

I did some field work a while back in So Cal, in the Coachella Valley (Salton Sea area). I used to think that anything over 110 was just "you're fucked" type heat. But then we hit 126 one day. Next was was about 115 and I thought "this ain't so bad"

also, you should charge your phone, lol

Coachella Valley is so brutal in the summer though. I feel like it sucks the energy out of you. I prefer the humidity to the dry heat. Being wet is a bummer with high humidity but its better then being sucked dry. Still have to hydrate either way I guess.

I sweat in my office when it's 72...

I've been to areas of high humidity (Louisiana) and yeah, that SUCKS when it's 80 degrees and 95%, and you walk outside and you're instantly drenched. So you're kinda screwed either way

I measure subsidence in the Coachella Valley from groundwater pumping, and the water levels are lowest in the middle of summer, which is why we always went in August (want to capture the max/mins). In past years it's always hot, but not THAT hot. After that summer of 126, I reevaluated our field operations, and decided that the water levels in September weren't different enough to warrant being in those kind of conditions.

I think for front windows it's like 5% or something ridiculously low.

Actually, even non-tinted glass blocks the harmful UV light, so I don't think the "vampire exception" would work.

Tinting just blocks more of the radiant heat, but makes it so officers can't see what you're doing inside.

Seriously? How much time do you have? lol

Here's some of the work my colleagues and I have worked on over the years:

    https://ca.water.usgs.gov/land_subsidence/coachella-valley-subsidence.html
    https://ca.water.usgs.gov/mojave/mojave-land-subsidence.html
    https://ca.water.usgs.gov/projects/central-valley/land-subsidence-san-joaquin-valley.html

There are areas of the Central Valley that are subsiding by about a foot a year. We have some of the fastest subsidence rates in the world right in our backyard. It's mostly due to agriculture, and worsens in drought years because they pump more groundwater to make up for the lack of surface water.

The sticky thing is that, of course, they produce much of the country's food. Something like 25% of the food for the country comes from 1% of its area (central valley). Being one of the most agriculturally productive areas of the world has its cost, and the state/feds/locals have spent billions on repairing things like roads, bridges and the aqueducts that transport water.

Okay, sorry, this might be kind of getting in the weeds for a truck forum, lol...

like I said, clear glass actually filters out the harmful UV light that causes that. it's just hotter inside.

I think most LEOs in hot areas generally won't ticket people for tint as they are generally understanding of how hot AF it gets.

You can't read humor either, I get it, it's a common problem. ;)

    Thus, the emoticon!

It's all good. I hear you about not working in the heat. Investing in good droplights so I can work at night (if it's not raining) was some of the best money I spent.

Seriously, though- invest in a torch (MAPP is better than propane- more BTUs- but propane will do it, you just have to use more fuel). Heat the knuckle around the TRE. You might just need to heat it a bit, you might need to really roast it- only way to tell is to heat if for a little bit, then get the sledge out and hit the knuckle (best to do while the puller is on the joint, or a picklefork if suitable to the joint, so you have tension built and it will release and let you know when it's out).

Whatever you do, DO NOT beat on the end of the TRE (where the nut goes) without the nut on it, even if you're going to toss the joint. That's a sure way to mushroom that end at which point you will need a grinder. Remove the nut, put it back on the threads till it's just a little past the threaded surface, then beat the snot out of it if you really feel you must beat on the TRE. However, I've had MUCH better results with the "heat and beat the knuckle" routine. You are actually setting up shockwaves and deformations in the material on a microscopic scale, breaking loose the galvanic bonding.

I know it sounds like BS. Try it. It works.
