I have a 4WD Tacoma Off-Road with Nitto Terra Grapplers and I have always found that the rear of my truck always seems to lose traction in even light rain. For example, taking off from a stop light, my tires will often spin for a moment before catching and start moving the truck forward. Usually only in 2WD.

Anyone else notice this/have this problem?

sounds like hard tires and or hard suspension! throw 100-200lbs of sand in the back and see how it does. are you lifted at all?

I agree. The stock Toyos do the same for me. TRAC takes care of it when it is on. When I have it off, it is very manageable. In the winter, a couple sacks of tube sand completely change the handling like you said.

You need a Mobtown rear end mod.

Isn't the pressure supposed to be around 29 or 30?

The Taco's traction control doesn't seem as intrusive as on the FJ or 4Runner. You just modulate the power to control wheel spin.

Or you just open it up and let the tail wag. It won't ever be too bad because it is an open diff in 2WD mode. I had a truck with a limited slip in the back, and it could be loads of fun when you romped on it. The downside is being talked to by the LEO about 'exhibition driving'.

It's a rear-drive vehicle with an empty box over the back end. There isn't a lot of weight pushing the rear wheels down. That said, other posters have mentioned the tire pressure. That'd be worth checking into.

Hah wish I had that problem, my truck feels paltry at stops signs. Maybe I’m not mashing the gas enough.
