Cali raised LED fog lights

I got their amber pods in. Only had them a week, no problems so far. Love them

 

Might be a stupid question but hey why not ask. I will need to select a quantity of two right? They are not sold in pairs?

 

When ordering off our website when ordering the brackets, a quantity of 1 is a pair.

might seem like dumb question to some , but are these lights too bright to run if im driving on a busy dark road with opposing traffic?

 

It isn’t that they are too bright, they don’t have a beam pattern with cut offs to not blind others. They should only be run when there are not other vehicles ahead of you. They did mention they are coming out with a real SAE fog pod soon though, which will have the correct cut offs for street use.

 

Just installed my amber fog pods I got from Cali-Raised (Thanks Jake! It's Rhys from Toyota) and I wanted to run mine at all times in the place of the factory fog lights.
I work at a Toyota dealership and spent about 4 hours today modifying the brackets and mounting to make them angle down just enough to where they are now able to be used as fog lights at all times. I am beyond happy with how they look and perform. I wish they would have been made so that this was an option. They install easy and if used for offroad use ONLY, they need no modification whatsoever. Would not hesitate to recommend these fogs and will continue to do business with Cali-Raised as a dealership as well!

Pictures are in! These are the non-SAE approved fogs that took some modification to make work so I could run them at all times, but I could not be happier!

 

I just got the kit for a 2014 Tacoma and there weren’t any instructions in the box. It just said check out YouTube but I don’t see a video for a 2.5 Gen on Cali Raised’s page. Am I just missing it or is it the same as the 3rd Gen?

What kind of modifications did you have to make to be able to run them all the time? Grinding and bending the brackets im assuming? I dont want to do too much of that and give the rust a place to start.

 

I really wish I would have taken pics of the before and after modification to the bracket, but I did the best crude drawing I can to try and help explain it:

In the pic, the black is the bracket and the white is the oblong hole that is already there to allow the foglight to move horizontally. What I had to do was use a Dremel tool and carve out the area in solid red so that the foglight could be allowed to move vertically a bit and then, in turn, be angled down. Without carving that out, the foglight cannot be tilted/angled down because it hits the bottom of the faceplate. And I didn't want to do any cutting of the actual faceplate as that would just look shoddy. So instead I opted for the area behind the faceplate and foglight so that it wouldn't be seen. After it was all done I just took some black touch up paint and covered the bare metal areas and called it done!

 

That makes sense, thanks for the quick follow up. Are you still pretty pleased with the beam pattern / distance you get with them being angled down? Did you angle them so it didnt go above the normal headlight cutoff or quite a bit lower?

 

I'm still really pleased with them even with them being angled down. I angled them so they are below the headlight cutoff, but they still give me some decent distance so when it is foggy or snowing I still get use out of them. I will fully admit that they were better when not angled down, but then they are most definitely off road use only as they will literally blind everyone

 

Has anyone gotten pods other than the ambers? I’ve been looking at the 2X2 and 3x2. What’s the big difference in the two of those and the difference between those and amber (and please don’t say the color).

 

The white will not act as much as a fog light when there is fog and snow. It will be more reflective than cut through the fog for visibility, unlike the amber which will cut through and not reflect back. The only other thing I noticed is the amber is 18 watt and the white is 20 watt, so they will be brighter but not by a huge amount.

Other than that....................color?

 

I knew it was coming! I set myself up. Thanks!! I went with the amber. I figure I’ll do something knew. I owned a 2011 Silverado and a 2015 Dodge Ram. Both some Big arse trucks for an old big arse ego. They were decked out in lights. BRIGHT and WHITE. I settled down and got into this new kick with Tacoma’s. And I’m loving it. Can’t wait to get these in!
