    2017 TRD Off Road
    Hi everyone!
I recently picked up a used 2017 TRD Off Road with about 5500 miles on it. I’m LOVING the truck but there’s something odd about it that has me a little confused.

I noticed when I was looking at the truck that it has an air dam in the front, which I know does not come on an OR. It was also listed as a sport on the dealerships website. I got it at a gm dealership so I figured it was very likely to be a silly mistake on their part when they listed the truck on their website, since they likely didn’t put much care into it since it’s a Toyota. I hadn’t even thought of it but I just recently realized that the rear bumper is also chrome, which if I’m not mistaken would come only on a sport?

Besides these few cosmetic things everything else is OR (crawl control, multi-terrain, locking rear diff, bilstein shocks, skid plates, etc.)

It doesn’t seem like a big deal at all just the more I think about it the more odd it seems to be. I understand why someone may have added an air dam for mpgs but why replace the rear bumper for chrome?

Any ideas on what the reason could be?

Thanks for anyone’s input and I’m looking forward to being a part of tacomaworld!

The TRD Off Roads come with chrome rear bumpers for some of the packages. If it has crawl control and locking rear diff it is definitely an OR.

Could be for fuel economy. Supposed the air dam gives an extra 1 mpg. Could be for looks also.

Which hood style? Standard or scooped?
Can you tell what shocks it has? Which wheels does it have?

Yeah, mine does too. But technically it is correct since the TRD models are up-specced SR5s. Some people it shows the correct TRD model, most don't. Some of the PRO vins show "offroad" as the model.

Think he's talking about the Air Dam (black chin strap under the front bumper) not the scoop.

Chrome bumper when you don't have the sensors like back up sensor or blind spot etc. Body color if you do.
I've seen so many dealers listing the vehicles wrong. They even list 4x2 when its clearly a 4x4 sometimes.

Previous owner might of just added the air dam. If you got crawl control and everything else it’s definitely a OR.

I've seen a lot of users on here with TRD Off-Road models offer to buy the air dams from Sport owners that were taking them off. It is common. The provisions are all there to add it. You would just need the bolts and the metal retainers that the bolts thread into.

Check to see if it was in an accident. Body shop could've added in the front air dam.

Thanks for all the info everyone! Yes everything else you all mentioned is all OR; shocks, hood, and anything else mentioned above. I was 99% sure there was nothing wrong I just needed that last bit of backup so I could stop wondering about it.

I looked up my vin and on carfax it says sr5/TRD. I also learned it was made in Baja California, Mexico!

Thank you all for the quick replies!
