I went to my local dealership and complained about lots of problems with the radio. Everything worked perfectly prior to the June update. After that, I'd have to disconnect/reconnect bluetooth, restart the phone, reboot the radio, etc. Tried multiple times to unpair and pair the phone again, made sure radio and phone were up to date, nothing fixed it.

Dealership said they didn't know what to do, my 2018 is "too new." They said I should wait until the next update rolled out.

Magically, one day, I deleted the phone from the radio, probably the 5th time... and deleted it from the phone too. Paired it all over again, and it's been working fine ever since.

I think there was a couple of updates within the last 6 months. I remember one for sure when I turned on my radio.

I went to my dealer today and asked them if we could pair my phone up with a similar new /used truck. The dealer (Riley Toyota) being their usual "good and co-operative people agreed --and we got in a 17 with the identical head unit I have. My competent and knowledgeable sales guy (Kevin Green) deleted all the data on the test truck and reloaded everything with my phone. WE started with a "clean" head unit. Result was -the test truck did the same as mine -- NO PANDORA -thru ENTUNE, and pandora was fine thru Bluetooth "only" app". Dealer agreed that the problem is probably originating with something Entune did with their connection with Pandora on THEIR app.
My next step -- calling Entune support line

Finally installed Entune on my phone. Tried it on my 3 week old 2018 Sport and Pandora did not work right off the bat. Haven't tried any of the tips here though. Will try again tomorrow and see if it works.

I've had all of these same problems, + on rare occasion when I get in and start the truck, Entune plays Pandora thru my phone speakers!:mad::mad: without my Pandora app open on my phone. At this point, my only choice is to power off the phone, I can turn off the BT connection, change source to FM, it doesn't matter. I finally used my son's phone to take a pic of my HU screen with my phone screen showing what was happening and the dealer ended up installing a new HU. Unfortunately, this didn't help. I have called Toyota helpline only to get the runaround and hear how they've never heard of these problems before.
I have figured out that sometimes when I get the "Tether Error" I've been logged off the Entune app, which is frustrating. But as soon as I log back in it tethers fine.
I've also noticed that if my phone is BT connected to any other device in the house, Entune appreciates it and plays nicer if I disconnect from said devices before turning on the ignition.

all in all Entune is by far the worst part of owning my Taco. with that being said, I still wouldn't trade it for another model.

I think the reasons we are not hearing more of these "entune/pandora" problems, is that most owners either: 1. Don't use Pandora thru Entune or 2. Too busy modding their trucks, to have the time to mess with the audio systems.
I think if more would complain about these issues Toyota/Entune would pay attention and do something about it.

May not be helpful but I use Spotify and download all music and the HU has no problem. Downloading is also great because boonies and whatnot.

    I got a Samsung S8

Ironically I just ran into this problem today, on a truck I bought new less than a week ago. It had worked fine with Pandora for a couple days, but gave me the connection error today in my second trip with the truck. I too found music playing through the phone speakers when I got home, and it only stopped when I force closed the entune app.

Tried everything on this thread and nothing worked. I did noticed that if I open the Pandora app on the HU I can then open the Pandora app on my phone and play it but dont get the song information or any other features. It's useless compared to using the bluetooth source through the HU. Also, I could play music from my iTunes app the same way.

That's the weird part -- Pandora works fine on the Bluetooth part of the radio -- just try to get pandora thru the "pandora" app on the selection screen? That's where the problems begin -- Seems like "entune" has screwed up its connection/hand shake with pandora.
I have decided to wait till a weekday to call entune, as I think I may? get better quality service then?

Any updates from anyone? I deleted all personal data on the HU which left it as new. Re-paired my phone and installed the Entune update on the head unit again. Nothing has changed, it's still not working. For what it's worth I have version 01019A on my HU.

I did the same thing, got the same results (nada).

I don't know what version I have for my HU though, I'll have to check that.

I also tried updating my HU but wasn't successful.

I went here: https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/downloads and downloaded 010192. I plugged in the USB and I went to the software update screen on the HU but nothing happened. From their online installation instructions I should already have the latest software on my HU so not surprised I couldn't update the software.

I think it's phone related. When I force closed the entune app the next time I got into my truck it worked again. Another time, I got the error, switched to Bluetooth and started playing music from the Pandora app, and when I switched back to Pandora on the radio it was working.

Ive been using Bluetooth to connect pandora for the last few months because when I use pandora on the entune app I did not have unlimited skips. I think the last time I tried it I could not skip any songs at all. Also seemed to time out a lot more with entune than Bluetooth.

So mine is now working. Hopped in my truck this morning and opened the Pandora app on the HU. Noticed it didn't say tether error or insufficient connectivity so I opened the Entune app on my iPhone. After 10 seconds the station list populated and it started working. Only gone a couple of trips today but so far so good. Let's see for how long.
