Anyone know the difference between these two? Can they both be applied or will one supercede the other?

I wonder if they're the same. Why Toyota created two and let dealers charged them twice for the same fix?

Just noticed that as well that they are both the same new calibration ID. Looks like the only difference is the 2018 previous calibration.

What do you mean by "2018 previous calibration"?

They're the same software version. I just had mine done. When I asked the service manager, I was informed Toyota choose to publish the software to address both the shifting surge and the stumble at higher altitudes.

The one tsb is for the 16-17 and the other includes the update for the 18. The 18 uses a different ecu.

The TSBs show a calibration ID that I assume were several for the 2018 as they show for the 2016/17 except they did not list them as such on the two different TSBs.

    T-SB-0062-18 lists 8966304A6000
    T-SB-0058-18 lists 8966304A7000

I guess they just go up one rev depending on what your previous calibration was.

I have a 2018 TRD Sport I purchased in Jan 2018. Is this something I need to have checked out? The truck tends to shift sooner into the lower gears than seems right. Consequently, I have to apply more throttle to get it to upshift. Thanks.

Is there any way to tell what updates one has short of taking it to the dealer?

You could get a cable and a pirated version of Techstream.

I would do that to check, but using a pirated version of techstream is scary stuff if something goes wrong.

I bought a 2018 TRD PRO in January of this year. I just took it to the dealer for 15,000 service and asked about the TSB. Service manager looked online and said the only one for my truck is the 0058. Had them do the update. They did it no problem. Haven't really noticed much difference although I drove it like I stole it from the day I picked it up. Luv my truck

the same at me. My Taco is from Jan 2018 and the dealer did only the 0058 today and forget to update the sticker under the hood. perhaps they did nothing and notice only on the bill- you never know

If they performed the ECM update then you received the most recent calibration ID. To verify, simply connect an OBD II port reader and check the vehicle calibration and reference the ID# on the T-SB.

Connect any OBD II port reader. It will show the cal ID of your ECM. If you don't want to buy one, just go to any auto parts store and use theirs for free.

Not true. Just need any OBD II port Reader.
Your Cal IDs should read like this. Mine has the update(s).

    FDC768D4-C2D6-4DDD-80B2-F6A2F4BD4852.jpg

Edit: To apply the updates yourself you need specific OBD II cables and tech stream. That’s to avoid a dealerships.

Today I asked the service manager why they did the 0058 and not the 0062. He says it's both the same and it does not matter. With an OBD reader, I have xxx6100 read out.

After reading all the good news, I expected more than what I got. I can notice a bit different shift behavior - not more :(

Same updates. Different search terms for the technicians to use for diagnostics. Don’t forget, these TSBs are for the techs - recalls are for the customer. Owners don’t get notified about TSBs and quite frankly, some techs don’t know about them until they search for a problem with a customer’s vehicle.
