Wanted to start a separate Thread for OVtuned Modified Trucks -Geared-Lifted-Bigger tires-Armor and any other goodies you have added. Just so we can get better opinions or answers to our specific style of trucks vs. stock trucks. Tune related.

I am going to be moving up a size tire to 285/75/17 Cooper ST Maxx 34" from 285/70/17 32.8". I am re geared to 4.88's lots of armor, Rtt and other add ons. Anyone running The Cooper ST Maxx 285/75/17's with gears and the tune?

I think I qualify to be in here. tune, lift, 34's, 4.88, steel armor, rack tent, etc...

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BmO4QqbniE8/?taken-by=bigpermtaco

although in that pic, those are 31.6" tires...

One thing ill say, 4.88's are the jam! I got the hypertech speedo calibration thing today and so ill finally see some accurate numbers. There is just over a 10% diff in the tire size from stock and so the numbers are waaaaay off.

I was referred here from the alpha-release thread. My set up includes a 2.5” lift, 285/70/17s, 4.88 gears, OVTune and ARE topper. I enjoy 1.04 but I’m really hoping for a solution to highway driving especially 75mph+ not sure if 1.05 will help anything. Hopefully so, but if not I may be looking into trading up to a Tundra.

    Slushies are good mmm’ Kay.
I’m running V1.04 91 flash. 35’s w/ 4.88’s and a ton of weight. Pulls good, but I still have a throttle hesitation sometimes from a dig. I hope 1.05 fixes it, otherwise I might go have the TSB done and test it out.

Yea mainly gear hunting. Mpgs isn’t a big issue to me. Still sucks getting 13 mpg and having to fill up often but the hunting makes it hard to enjoy. I live in Kansas so I can’t imagine what it’s like out west but any head wind/cross wind or slight incline and transmission goes haywire.

Have you gotten the speed calibration device? I was off over 10% and so the numbers are actually way better than what it says on the dash.

I think the 93 power map may help your gear hunting... the other thing, slow down! lol... there are the fastest speed limits in the country here in central texas with 80 being common, 85's on some tolls, and most hwys at 70 or 75. Does mean you have to go that fast lol... i hardly ever go over 70 and its been rocking along real nice. Hold 5th and 6th a lot. itll still hit 4th every now and then, but its much better than stock.

    Are you on 1.04R?

Its not a bad update at all... i did it at home and then got 1.04R from Mat... the one major complaint is that with or without the tune, the new update races to 4th gear. its not as bad on the 1.04R, but its still there. Only 3 ish days from 1.05 so may not even be worth it

Haha true.. I think 65 and under is the only time it feels normal. I had a similar set up on my 08 and I never had this issue. I don’t have the speed calibration device and right now I’m just on the 1.04 tune

The reason i jumped to the 04b400 tune was because a lot of the feedback was good about shifting. And it did improve it some. If 1.05 would hurry up and come out already! I think its gonna be good.

I have a 4 inch spindle lift, 2 inch leaf spring lift, Bilstein 5100's all around, and 265/70R17 BF Goodrich KO2 tires. I can't wait to see how 1.05 performs.

I also get the throttle hesitation. It happens from time to time when I lay into it. It falls flat on it's face.

Yeah..it’s not right. I gas it and the truck just dies then comes back to life. It’s quick but the hesitation is very noticeable. Doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does I find myself cursing at the truck.
