Yup, cause if it's not CARB legal you'll have to pay someone to smog it for sure.

 

I only had to do that back home in CA once. When I got to TX, it became a much cheaper $60

 

If you're going to spend 6k or more in one sitting on a turbo setup, you're not really gonna care too much about 300 once every 2 years. It's like comparing the weight of an elephant to the weight of an apple

 

Ya, I have friends that have to do that. $60 would be nice. Lol

 

Embarrassed or not, I'm willing to bet a fair number of people were really only looking for that much anyway and would be perfectly happy with 75-100 additional hp and tq lol they're going for that Toyota Tacoma 3.5L ecoboost

Sometimes more and sometimes less. But you'll have to pay someone to do a fake smog.

 

Mmm the sweet smell of shots fired. As implied, I'm most certainly not here to inspire anger. The fact remains, your pay off to the inspection man is the smallest concern on a list of 'nothings' that you will most absolutely have to pay for when you mod your car in this type of way. T-Bolts, silicone couplers, and miserable, miserable vac lines are my particular pet peeve when it comes to routine maintenance on kits like this. Maybe I hate them as much as you hate passing your smog test. I could maybe even consider it maintenance on nothing. But it's part of the deal.

 

I don’t mind paying $300 every 2 years to keep my turbos. But i wonder how hard it will be to find someone willing to take a bribe.

 

I don’t think you’ll be able to sell for full price; tune is married to your Ecu. Hardware isn’t though.

 

It shouldn't be too hard. Smog guys don't make good money anymore. Find one that likes money and you'll find one that'll make sure your truck passes.

Just remembered that the other day i found an old eBay T3/T4 turbo in my garage when I was cleaning it out, organizing. Came off a wrecked civic that a buddy let me butcher for random shit. Forgot that I had it. If anyone is trying to put together a turbo kit and beat Mat to the finish line, let me know if you want it
