Sounds good to me ... full armor (steel) 285/75/16 dcsb offroad with steel rack and rtt. 13mpg @80 mph in the middle of nowhere .. mpg was never much of a concern. We're about to do a multistop deal through Mesa Verde ,grand canyon, vegas and down route 66 to some desert trails in Hesperia CA and down PCH down through my hometown in HB . Camping on the beach in San Diego before heading to carlsbad caverns . Then back home to Georgia.

That sounds like an awesome trip man. I drool over all the RTT and camper setups I see on here. 13 mpg is pretty low, but I bet having that setup is well worth it

Very excited . My dad took me on a awesome trip in the mid 80s . I have two sons and me and my old lady will love this later.

Toyos are some of the heaviest LT tires available. They weigh more than the Falken AT3’s I’m pretty sure

The P-rated Toyo aren't too bad if you don't need LT tires. I'm running some P265/70R17 Toyo A/TII on Method NV and with mixed driving, I'm averaging 20.8MPG, which is +/- 0.5 of the stock off-road wheel package.

some perspective in the ultra high MPG range :D

    city driving:
-literally cannot go over 1800 rpm, accept that you are THE SLOWEST on the road and EVERYONE will pass you
-your MAXIMUM speed is 1MPH under the speed limit
-you are looking at the horizon and gaming ALL the traffic lights
-you are coasting more than anything, not gassing or braking
    -NO BRAKING
-you can anticipate every move of everyone, in front of, side of and behind you, will do, might do, to avoid loss of momentum

    freeway driving:
-literally cannot go over 2700 rpm
-same as city minus the traffic lights
-if speed limit 55 go 55, if speed limit 65 go 60 in the slow lane, if higher than 65, go 65 stay in the slow lane or draft behind 18 wheelers/other large vehicles

this is mostly tongue in cheek, but not far off from the truth

    ...stuff
I will admit I didn’t read through all of this, but did you account for speedometer inaccuracy now?

Larger tire diameter means you are traveling further with each tire rotation, the computer doesn’t know that so it thinks you are traveling slower/shorter distance than you actually are. Ignore the “mpg” calculator on your dash and do the math yourself.

Your odometer and speedometer is about 3% off because of tires size. I getvabout that with 32” a 2.5” lift, removed valence. 3.5 auto dclb

Good point and even though I knew this I did not factor it in to my statement.

No mpg calculator on my SR, but my odo is off too so I need to do some math anyway

I was MUCH happier in my 2011 SR5 that didn't have an MPG calculator...

So hate to be that guy thats totally off topic, but anyone know whos gray SR or SR5 is in this pic? Anyone know what size rims and tires these are? I too have no fender flares and trying to find rims that fit flush has been a bit of a pain! Offset and BS would be awesome too! Thanks guys and gals, trying to get the best fit and look the first time as rims are quite the expense!

The backspacing of your wheels are also causing more drag, which also effects your gas mileage. Ive seen 1-2 mpg drop from wheel swaps alone. Combine that with toyo open country lt tires (toyo makes some awesome tires, but they are some of the heaviest tires on the market) and youre sitting right where I would expect your MPG would be.

That was my 2017 SR, traded for my 18 SR5. The wheels are pro comp 32 series 8x16, 0 offset, 4.5" backspacing. Tires are 265/75/r16 Toyo open country at2. I wish I had more photos, but the tires sat about 3/4" outside of the fenders on that truck. They sit about 1/4" outside of the fender flares on my SR5. No rubbing on either truck after I removed the mudflaps

Thank you, thank you!! The first pic I have been able to find in THOUSANDS of posts trying to find out if a 16x8 0 offset 4.5 BS would look to "low rider" for me on my SR with no flares! I do not like the look when the wheels ends up over 1" outside the edge of the fender. So your saying only about 3/4" outside the fender!? This is awesome news as that isnt too much for me ascetically. Were they too wide for your taste after you put them on? Can I ask why you sold a 2017 for a 2018? Was the SR5 that much better? Haha, dang....maybe I shouldve got an SR5? o_O

I really liked the tire poke on my SR without the flares, it was enough to notice but not obnoxious or hazardous. I traded because I was looking to start modding it but I realized that an SR5 wouldve given me more of the equipment I wanted and I had a little buyer's remorse about it. I have a friend at a local dealership and I was calling to get some info on my trade in value and i ended up going to look at a couple trucks, and i became obsessed with this quicksand SR5 Haha. The color was easily half the reason i traded, and the SR5 had the info cluster in the dash that I wanted, but didn't get on the SR. Oh, and i regretted getting the 4 cylinder SR, i came from a V6 Mazda that had a ton of pickup and i wanted to get back to a V6. I loved both trucks though, SRs are awesome.

I don't mind the MPG meter, usually have my dash set to it.

Again...thank you for the detailed response! I am super stoked cause this opens up more options in regards to rims I can buy. I really, really didnt want the wheels to stick out more than an 1" or so, but also didnt want them too within the well.

Oh I hear ya! I wanted the quicksand too but they didnt have one "johnny on the spot" in an SR. I was so focused on saving money and not having any damn chrome....(damn that chrome)...on my truck, that I didnt even think about the dash cluster!!! Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh! I already have the arb rear locker so the elocker wasnt an issue. In hindsight, I think I shouldve got the SR5....wah,wah!
