I had mine serviced yesterday. They only did the 58-18 TSB. When I dropped it off, I discussed with the service dude specifically the 62-18. Is there a difference? I have a print out of the 62-18. What’s the difference? (I’m searching now)

Yeah, I should have searched first. Apparently this has come up A LOT and has been discussed in nauseam. Sorry for the trillionth post on this. Rookie move on my part.

After talking with the shop supervisor a 35 yr plus master mechanic there is two updates. I can say the lower range acceleration is so much better between 1600/2400 RPM and the throttle response has less of a delay. The gear hunting is a lot less noticeable. So far I am happy with the results.....

Tony Divino, I know the lead foreman there. But I dont think that would matter if they do the update for you or not. They have a pretty good service department (unlike the sales department).

Just a curiosity but when a dealer says there are 2 updates (and charges Toyota for 2 updates) after the first update is done how do they do the second update? The first update would put the ECU to 04B04 thereby making the ECU ineligible for the second update correct?

Hey fellow Taco owners, I own a 2016 off-road and am Canadian. Would these tsb's be provided for me? I'm going to make a call to my dealer monday to see what they say. Ive already had a tsb update for rough shifting points, delayed engagement form P-R and P-D. any suggestions?

Hello Everyone! I’m buying a new 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Does this ECU update come from the factory now that it has been identified?

    To answer your questions:

    1) I live in northwest Florida, and my truck's always had the symptoms described in TSBs 58 and 62.
    2) My local service tech gave me no problems getting 62 installed.
    3) Can't help you there, but you can always try the 'I recently went to the mountains' trick.

    Technically correct

    Yes there is a Canadian
No, your truck most likely has the old software.

I finally validated that I have the correct calibration!

Both Calibration ID’s end in 400.

You should have no problem getting the update if you mention the associated issues in TSB 58

I had TSB 0058-18 and TSB 0062-18 performed on my 18 OR. Truck drives a 100% better. This is also my first auto trans since 1983, so I'm still getting used to the "new age".

    I live in Massachusetts.

I printed out the TSB. Dealership said they applied the updated. But it still drives the same. Hopefully the next dealership will know how to.

Find a local member or auto parts store with a code reader and confirm that way.

Yep mine did the same thing! It will mellow out after a few days. drives much smother and more linier now. Improved but I think toyota can do better. In my original post I wrote dealer gave me TSB77-16, was on the paperwork, so i was thinking TSB's had to be done in incraments. After hooking up my scan tool (didn't even think about that at the time) I have the latest tune, TSB62-18. I think everybody's getting the latest tune now! But now i'm hearing crickets under my hood! But thats another TSB for another story. HA!HA!
