Keep the offroad, the sport is a step down unless it's the 4wd model and some 3rd gens are riddled with issues. The 3.5 engines and transmission is a little unlike the 4.0 in the 2nd gen.
Edit... I see your location and I do believe these 3rd gens will rust out way faster than that 2nd gen.

Man that’s a tough call. Personally I’m keeping my 2014. I test drove the 3nd gens and love the quick sand and cement colors. Some of the features are nice but ultimately the only thing they have my truck doesn’t is HIDS and power rear window. My truck is almost paid for and no payments is gonna be nice.

The off road is a more desired vehicle on this forum as it has more capabilities than it counter parts. Plus it has that stupid skewp on there that really serves no purpose other than mall cred.

Same price for less usable parts on the sport. Although I love my sport and have had no issues what so ever in 4x4 mode or just driving. I would get a sport all over again if I had to.

Do you need to know, or care?
It's a really tough call. Do you want the added amenities or the off road capabilities? Really up to your personal choice. Do what you want and not what people on here suggest.

I off-road in sand as I live at the beach and occasionally go to the mountains. The locker was a wasted feature for me and the off-road didn’t come in a long bed.

You’ll likely miss the power you find in the 2nd gen. It’s a gas guzzler, but it has power available at low RPMs unlike the 3rd gen. The 3rd gen is meant to be more of a economical/gas saving vehicle so it has odd shifting points that many complain about and the engine has the Atkinson cycle. After 20k in mine I have to say I’ve grown to love it. I use to hate it but it’s learned my driving habits and it doesn’t give me the annoying gear hunting it did in the beginning. The interior in the 2nd gen seems to be a little outdated. You really can’t go wrong with either. The 4.0L is proven to be worth while and lasts, I haven’t seen too much about the 3.5L although I know it’s ran in Lexus vehicles so I’m sure it’s reputable as well. It DOES have power, you just have to get the RPM’s up. When I got my 3rd gen it was a pro con of which had better features, style, gas, etc.

If you own the 2nd gen id keep it, unless they’re giving you a killer deal. If you haven’t already, test drive it and test all the features the 3rd gen has to offer. Keep in mind it may shift a little funky as the ECU will pick up on your driving habits with time.

Not sure why the sport gets so much hate. I absolutely LOVE mine and don’t regret getting it over the OR one bit. Both are sweet rigs. Your money your decision OP:cheers:

    3rd Gen is shinier!

IMO drive your ‘15 for awhile and see if they work out some of the kinks on the 3rd gen.
