That’s crazy you only get one tag. We get like 5 or 6 and can buy more. But the deer are the size of coyotes here. Lol.

We get one buck tag and two doe tags. In the special regs area near Filthadelhpia and Pittsburg, doe tags are basically unlimited. But then hunting opportunities are very limited because of all the private land. Special regs area opens Sept 15. The rest of the state is Sept 30. Still have a ground blind and three stands to hang. Trying to finish up exterior house painting this weekend, so next weekend I can take care of the really important things.

In Ohio, we’re allowed one buck and up to six does and our dear are huge, our bucks are big and the does are big. Not Saskatchewan level but not too far behind them.

That’s awesome. Ohio definitely has some big deer. When I went to Illinois the does were nearly as big as our bucks body wise.

I guess it’s a double edge sword here. We have plenty of deer but there is only so much food for them, so eventually you start to see physical changes such as average size.

    5. You get 3 anterless and 2 either antlered or antlerless. But you can buy more after you use those I believe.

Some areas have a stipulation that if you get a buck you must kill 1-2 does before you can get another buck. Depends what county.

Funny thing is my boy can’t come with me.
He put a cam in a spot 50 yards away.
    Asked me to check it.
I think I know where it is.. lol...
So he sent me the coordinates.

Going to be a interesting solo walk....

Luckily I'm in one of those counties!!! I usually don't hunt the early season though. Too hot for me. I usually don't even hunt opening day in October. Lots of ticks and mosquitoes around here!

The problem is so many developed areas plus so many people don’t allow hunting. The whole state really varies. It all depends on number of hunters and the actual land available to hunt. A lot of people here are nature loving tree huggers or they live in the city but own large tracts of land that they never even use out in the country.

Yeah early season can be a little tough. It’s been close to 90 before when I’ve been even in October. Sitting in your tree stand in a pool of sweat when you aren’t even moving around has to counteract any scent control measures you take. Lol!

I have to wait until Oct. 1 in Illinois. Only allowed 1 buck and all the does you can afford ($25 each for non resident). I usually shoot 2 does and give them to an older guy and he pays for my next doe tag. I use to process them myself, but got tired of messing with them. I try to keep the doe shootin within a couple hundred yards of the truck if possible.
